Theres a kids prog on Cbeebies.
Autumn watch. Im sure youve seen the adult version.
Im in an argument here with my other half about it.
Well, part of it anyway.
As the prog ends, a carnival comes dancing onto the screen, an indian harvest procession, and its all very colourful, but one line the lead singer sings is "See them birds flying high off up into the sky"
Am I being petty here? Am I wrong? "But see THEM birds?"
My three year old was singing to the song and I automatically corrected her and said its THOSE birds!
My other half tells me it doesnt really matter if its part of a song and Im being a sad and petty man for mentioning it but...standards...should they be maintained?

They also use the word "yeah" instead of "yes" ......... I shall cancel my TV License today!
We should stop schools singing the "Banana Boat Song" (Tally mi banana?) and "Dry Bones" (Dem Bones?), as well.

Of course standards should be maintained. I was listening to the Today program with Clement Freud who was lamenting the use of slang by the great and the good http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/listenagain/ It was great. Especially as the presenter went on to use the phrase "More bang for your buck" later in the program and was unceremoniously jumped on by listeners :hihi:
I'm one of the anal retentives who spot this type of thing as well and it drives me potty - I get told by her indoors that I could keep the program Grumpy old men in fresh material without them having to bother all of those people :|

“Boomp-boomp ditem dotem wachem shoo — and dey fam and dey fam all over the damn,” as Frankie Howerd put it. Not very good English, but enjoyed in my day nevertheless.
