City Centre footfall up by 5%

Footfall for figures for Sheffield City Centre during July are up by almost 5% on the same month last year. Fargate, Sheffield’s most popular shopping street, welcomed 1,320,281 visitors last month, an increase of 62,152 or 4.49% for the same period in 2003.

These are the lates footfall counts from the council, I wonder if this is due to the many foreign visitors from Europe and Aisa?

Think they've got rid of the Big Issue mile on Fargate?! In between the BI sellers and Market researchers with their clipboards, walking down Fargate can some times be a bit unintentionally intimidating.

You can use the clutter that is all the way down to avoid people. The planters are great for hiding from the market researches, you can weave inbetween the trees to avoid Big issue sellers and the advetising boards to avoid anyonelse.

You think you have escaped until....the gouranga monks get you, jumping out from HMV they follow you almost halfway home before giving up.

Gouranga!!

I saw one in Grimsby once back when I was a student.. I came out of a computer shop one Saturday afternoon and some bloke came up to me and asked me to shout "Gouranga!".

I did so, just to humour him, cos I thought he was a bit er, odd looking.

I tend to give Gouranga monks a wide berth as one in Manchester once told me that women like me were the reason he became celibate!

Less personally, their religious teachings regarding women (especially single mothers) are horrible. There are a lot more worthy charitable causes to give money to. Who don't think it's OK to graffiti everywhere :P
