In fact, you might as well tell me if they're any good as a seller too. Seen a property we really like through them, but are trying to sell ours privately before going through an estate agent.

Estate agents work for the seller

This is the person that pays their commission
The more money they get for the house the higher the commission

this is as much as you need to know

i've just sold a house through them (well, accepted an offer, anyway) and had an offer on a house we want accepted by them. to be honest, we were thinking of selling privately and i'm very glad we didn't - we would have happily sold for 15k less if we'd done it ourselves, as we couldn't possibly have got that much interest by ourselves. if you buy and sell through the same agent you might find that out of their own interests (entirely legal ones, i mean) they might encourage the whole buy/sell faster. that certainly seems to have happened for us, anyway.

good luck
