I am trying to choose which conveyancing solicitor to use and so far have had the best quote from Taylors. Can anyone tell me if they have used them before and do they recommend them? Thanks

Hi There,

I'm just about to complete my sale and purchase using Taylors and have had no problems with them so far. I used them as I got the cheapest quote, got my invoice and the prices were what they quoted with no hidden charges that they didn't tell me about so that was good. I used Taylors in Chapeltown, a lady named Paula Mayfield.
Hope this helps!

I used Taylors in Banner Cross in the summer and they were very good seeing as it was the first time I had done anything like buying a house. They sent a clearly set out pack with what happens at each stage and were very efficient. Although they arent the cheapest I would certainly use them again. You get what you pay for!

I also used Taylors at Banner X and we sold and bought another and moved in six weeks which I thought was brilliant.

likewise. i used taylors at banner cross. their quote was £1000 less than a couple of others, they were extremely helpful through the entire process, and everything went through smoothly.

we had it from a source very close to a major estate agent never to use taylors - they may be the cheapest quote, but personally i'd rather pay a bit more (it's a major purchase, after all) and not worry about the ineptitude which we were warned about. the agent directed us towards anne emerson or ross ward at taylor and emmet, and said that that's who they would use.

don't understand - i didn't post any questions, i was just offering my opinion. besides, a sample size of 6 people who are happy with taylors doesn't mean that everyone who uses them is happy wiht them, as shown by the post before this one.

I think there is a difference between "Taylors" and "Taylor & Emmet". They are different firms.

yes, they are two separate firms - we were advised to avoid taylors, but recommended to use taylor and emmet.

Hi we used Paula from Taylors in Chapeltown recently and also found them to be extremely helpful and would highly recommend them.

Hi, I'd just like to reiterate that 'Taylors' and 'Taylor&Emmet' are two separate firms.
The above mentioned Ross Ward works for Taylor&Emmet.
I believe there's a lenghty thread on here about conveyancing solicitors. Bit late for you Sal24...... though.

Just a heads up - a lot of the estate agents around sheffield will recommend a particular solicitors.... not because they're any good, but because they're actually in it for a you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

Paula is spot on. It's not her fault if the other party (or their solicitor) can't get their act together. You have to remember you are part of a chain and if one link fails, the whole chain breaks. If you decide to buy a house off someone who isn't that bothered about moving, there's nothing your solicitor can do to help - ask the right questions when you go to view.
