My cat has a habit of rolling onto his back as if hes inviting you to tickle his belly, and when you do, he attempts to skin you alive from the wrist upwards.

WHY?!? Are they insane? Do they LIKE trying to not only bite the hand that feeds them, but flay it open too?

Do your cats do this?

My moggy has such a fat podgy belly thats its impossible to resist grabbing it when he rolls onto his back.
I think he realises this...

That sounds pretty normal feline behaviour to me Jabberwocky. As long as you know which cats mean it as a compliment (cos that's what it is, it's not an invitation for you to tickle) and which actually like their tummy rubbed, you'll be fine.

my cats do rollies too :)

they can be anywhere - garden, bedroom, middle of the road

and they just collapse, roll over and look at you with big eyes!

then you try touch them and they meow and bite :(

theyre mad arent they :hihi:

It's a compliment, a bit of family bonding. They're showing their subservience by rolling over in front of you- it's bad form to attack them (ie. tickle their tummy) when they're kowtowing to you.

It's different entirely with the cats who actually like their tummy rubbed- you find that out by trial and error (and scratches).

This (http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c54/mewsletter/Arthurno2dec04.jpg) tummy's pretty hard to resist snuggling too- but thankfully he will lie on his back to have his belly fur rubbed anytime!

they all do that- dont fall for it. I dont have a cat of my own anymore, but they all do it! I feed and on occasion let him sleep and even he has done it. I only fell for it once ( cat next door) and wont do it again. After saying that, they are mad on my road - parking is a nightmare - they just appear. !!!!!!!!

that sounds exactly like my cat, she was wild when we got her(15 years ago), and he is still the most nasty cat i have ever known. she bites everyone apart from me, but if i go near her belly she goes mad.
