There's knitting (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=74), of course :D .

I'm also into embroidery; not so much cross stitch, these days though, more experimental stuff. I've just become interested in goldwork, needleweaving and Casalguidi embroidery (an Italian technique, which uses aspects of stumpwork, needleweaving and hardanger embroidery).

I've just started courses in pottery and metalwork/jewellery, which are brilliant - really messy, with the added bonus of using various dangerous-looking machinery :D .

I'm doing a drawing and painting course too, with the aim of building up my skill and establishing a portfolio. No photos yet though, as I haven't bought a case to bring my work home with me.

What else? I'm just getting into spinning (thanks beansforyou :) ), and I also do beadweaving using seed beads and delicas.

There's not enough hours in the day :hihi: .

Sounds like you keep yourself really busy!! I do cross stitch, cardmaking, and quilling. I used to do decoupage but haven't touched for a few years.

I do :D . Most of the above is college-related though. Never enjoyed homework so much :hihi: .

That sounds really interesting. Is the A2 course in Art or is it Textiles? Post some photos of your stuff when they're finished :) .

You can't post photos directly on the Forum, but you can upload them to a Photobucket account and post a link to them on here.

This (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=98060) tells you how to go about it :) .

How long have you been doing this for?

Not very long, a few months at the most. I love looking at the beads I've got and then deciding how they're going to work together...although I had a bit of trouble at the beginning with getting the length right! Had to unstring a few and start again :hihi:

A friend of mine has just started doing this. Have you got any pictures or can you explain it, apparently it is hard to describe?

Just started going to a women's art group and at the moment we are doing silk painting ~ it's really easy and the end results are stunning.

I'm getting into jewellry making, with beads mainly. I've always loved to draw and paint, have a little portfolio going on, I have painted my guitar recently (not painted on paper, actually painted the guitar, lol)

I'm also doing a hand made furniture course at college with my friend, which is cool, we are really enjoying it :D

EDIT: I forgot, I press flowers too :)

Wow, when you look at it in writing, you realise you do a lot more than you thought. I'm going to have to make more time for my hobbys, I'm happy when I'm making/creating/painting things.

Hey - you'd be surprised how easy it is! You don't even have to be neat has you outline the design in a special gel like paint and when that's dry it stops any of the paint from smudging onto the rest of the silk. If you get the chance, have a go. The results are amazing ~ really professional looking!!

I'm off work at the moment, on sick :( Having a few health issues, and it stops me from doing a lot of things. So I'll sit at home and make things :)

When I'm at work I don't have a lot of time, so I'm making the most of it at the moment. :)

I really want to learn how to use my sewing machine properly!

It's sat looking at me in the corner, and to be honest i've not had a really good sit down with it and play.

Does anyone know any good links to sites where they give free advice etc?

best advice beans is like you said - sit down take a good look at it - practice on fabric and most of all have a good time!

my machine works a treat having done that - I hated the machines at school until one day I thought 'teach yourself how to use them' now we get on like a house no fire :D - do you have the instruction manual?? its a good place to start...

My machine and I do not mix. It is only a small one but it jams, the stitching falls out and it's all wonky lol. I think i'll stick to hand stitching!

:suspect: if its jamming alot you might be best taking the shuttle mechanisms out with the help of your instruction book and giving it a good oil - if the workings are dry that sometimes leads to jamming and snapping of the thread!

I'd also try the tension

though thumbs up for hand stitching it is the best!!

HelloI'm into craft in a big way - jewellery and silversmithing, using recycled, broken toys to make stuff, card making, wind-chimes, glass painting, 3d sculpture, painting landscapes (alternative ones) and anything else that comes my way.

Oh and I did once convert a piece of graffitti into cross-stitch and then do it!
