Did anyone see this last night. I was about 20 when The Young Ones came out and I remember the impact it had at the time. It was ground-breaking TV and still find it fresh and funny 22 years later.
I often wonder how it comes across today for those of a student age ?

I was more a "Not the Nine-o'clock News " fan, myself. I thought the humour was a bit more "sophisticated" and "pythonesque" (especially the homage to MP in "The Life of Brian" sketch!)

I was a student at the same time as TYO came out, and I saw far too many parallells with my own situation, than was comfortable!

I did enjoy TYO, but I felt that Rik and Ade, at times, tried "too" hard to be funny, which, sadly, came across as manic, and forced.

My goodness the house (s) they lived in! I have lived in some dives in my time, in that same vein...

My favourite episode of TYO has to be "Bambi"; the one where they go on "University Challenge", and Griff "Restoration" Rhys-Jones did an absolutely CRACKING impression of Bamber Gascoigne.

Minor edit to add that I preferred the channel 4 version of "TYO"... "the Comic Strip Presents...." more or less the same cast, but much funnier, and much more well-written. I loved their "Famous Five " skits!

"lashings of lemonade!" (??? what??? it always sounded slightly Kinky to me ....)

Some of us may not be of the younger generation, but we still know how to have fun.

By the way, Can anyone tell me where the toilets are please?
