Anyone know of any good restuarants (unlicensed) on London Road?

there are any number of eateries you could choose from, don't entirely know which are Licensed and which aren't.

the new "Indian" one, Jumeireh, which is near the R&R bar at the beginning of L'Rd is quite nice, if you like curries...

They don't sell alcohol, but you can BYO, if you so wish.

Why the heck did Martini's have to shut?!

One of the best Italian eateries in Sheff IMO...

Went to WasabiSabi last week for the first time. Ace. Excellent food and very reasonably priced. If you want something different give it a go.

Froggies is a lovely place. You can take your own wine and they have great veggie food, as well as meaty things!

I don't get out much and haven't been since last winter when I had the beetroot, parsnip and horseradish soup, Umm... I haven't forgotten about it since!

Maybe because they charged people £1.50 per slice for cutting a cake?

Plus they counted every penny when you took your own wine.

And the food was mediocre at best.

'Jabu' just next up from noodle inn. its a chinese fondu place. they heat up a bowl of stock (you choose flavours from chilli, satay etc) and then add whatever meat (slices of beef, lamb, chicken) and veg (broccoli, oyster mushrooms) you want and then drink soup at end. was delish! mouth is watering as i write this...:). we took our own wine.

Noticed today that Froggies has closed down. Like you, I'd not been for a while, but always enjoyed it when I went. What a shame it's gone. I don't hold out much hope for the Italian/Mediterranean restaurant opening its place.

Wasabi one, Froggies Bistro, is Seasons on London Road- top notch, and strictly speaking its not London road, but right next to it -Rossi's.

Seasons is at 238 Abbeydale Road which is a continuation of London Road more or less. Definitely worth the 2 minutes extra walk - but then I would say that, wouldn't I? :hihi:

Blimey, Froggies Bistro has shut! What a massive shame. The food there was lovely.

The restaurant in its place is called Tivoli, and it looked like upmarket Italian from the menus in the window. If anyone tries it, let us all know what you think. ;)

Siam Inter - the Thai place nearer the top of London Road is absolutely wonderful, and the owner is lovely ...told me how he brought the wallpaper I was admiring all the way back from Thailand himself and seemed impressed when I asked for Thai beer rather than Stella or the usual crap.

It's moved to the old FOB cafe site, just up from the Cathedral - due to open this month.
