The worlds heaviest bird is back flying in England. The Bustard can weigh up to 20kg. The birds were last seen in here in 1832 after they were hunted to extinction.
I know someone who will be happy about this. The Fox! ;)

At 20kg how on earth do foxes predate them??? They must outweigh the average fox by about 300%!!!

LMAO!
Seriously though if the bird is THAT heavy, sure it defies the law of gravity by even being capable of flight?! :loopy:

I don't know how, but they do.
They are the biggest threat to the birds survival probably along with us. There aren't as many foxes here though as in Russia.
From the article Lickszz posted :
"The biggest natural enemy to the bird is the fox, and the bustard group plans to place a stuffed version in the pen to help the birds learn to recognise it."
Hmmmmmm. Right.

Surely that would just get them used to foxes and remove any possible natural fear of them???

I think the threat from foxes is more to chicks than adult birds. An uncle of mine who kept turkeys used to tell of one particular gobbler which had given both a fox and his boxer dog a good hiding ! :D
Aye them Turkeys are mean Bustards.....especially around Christmas.
