Which team do you support.
Barnsley
Chesterfield
Huddersfield
Leeds
SUFC
SWFC
Etc

How do you think your Team will do in the 2004/05 season.
I support Sheffield United & I think they will get in the playoffs & gain promotion to the Premiere League.

I support Burton Albion!! Coming to sheffield uni in september! I reckon we'll finish top ten but won't make play-offs.

Wavey
02-08-2004, 10:40
I support Wednesday and I think we might scrape the play-offs this time.. possibly promoted but still not totally convinced.

Same for United.

other predictions..

Leeds to suffer like we did for a couple of seasons.

Barnsley mid-table

Chesterfield same as last season.

Huddersfield might push the play offs

Rotherham might struggle this time

I think Hull might find it a lot harder than they think they are going to.

I hope Wednesday get promotion but I am a bit wary of Chris Turners management skills, not many ex goalkeepers have done well as managers only in the coaching capacity,as far as Leeds I can see them doing a Man City but even if they were in the conference they would still get more mentioned about them than any other Yorkshire team but maybe i'm biased.

I agree with you mate, Look Leeds will be preparing the TV special as we speak, about Leeds' glorious return to the Premiership.

Wavey

I forgot about Donny too..
I think they might fly for a season or two.

tosh13
02-08-2004, 15:05
Yeah mate I agree as well, why do Yorkshire tv go on about Leeds all the time it gets me so peed off yeah they had a cracking season a few seasons ago when they reached the champions league semi, but there downfall was getting rid of O'leary look what he has done for Villa on limited resources.I think Donny will have a good season also & Boston. But I really hope Wednesday get back in the first division oops sorry coca cola championship.as a Unitedite I am not one of those who likes to see another local team do badly only unless they are playing Utd LOL.

What are peoples opinions of Hull City? I get the impression people think we (I am a city fan) are sure we are going to go up and are bigger and better than everyone else. This simply isn't true (well maybe a few of the young uns who don't know better) we never expect anything. This comes from so much promise for the last 5-10 years and never achieving anything until last year. Most of us would be happy with mid-table pushing for the play-offs.

tosh13

I think you have a good manager. As long as you can hold on to him as he has been offered the England under21s again.I do not think a manager can juggle with 2 jobs,Hull City can go far with Taylor there are a few good young players at the club.I used to love watching sheff utd play hull in the early 70s I think the player who used to cause us trouble was Ken Wagstaffe am I right or wrong.

march
02-08-2004, 15:21
You are right, Waggy is a legend at City. As for the U21 job, he has taken it now, only for match days though and we have priority. So it's not that bad we will only lose him for 8 Tuesdays next year, he won't be doing any of the scouting etc. The pros far outway the cons!

You've just signed our Keeper Duke. We wish him good luck but most of us can't quite believe a club at your level has come in for him, he is a brilliant shot-stopper, but he couldn't kick a bean bag. Have you seen him play yet? He played against Spurs I heard. ON his day he is brilliant but like I say he can't kick, especially backpasses, and gets lobbed too much for someone of his size.

wed nesday for promotion??? LOL

im a blade....... think it is top 2 with us, the performance against spurs really encouraged me......

donny??? good luck to em, think they will do well actually

rotherham, dont think they made any good signings really, but wish them all the best

barnsley, well i think they made a great signing in mcphail..... shud do well this season, top 6

could this be the season where weds are the lowest placed south yorks league team??

Only seen the goals he has let it which to be honest did look a bit dodgy. Althouhg playing against, Man City and Birmingham was a bit of a step up! Think he will be ok once he gets use to "League 1" and our nice shiny ground! Hopefully shouldn't be needed too much anyway. Probably not as good as the other keeper we signed who went AWOL after a week. He was 4th choice for Portugal. Nevermind!

I think top 2 for the Blades. Top 6 for the Owls and Barnsley. Doncaster might just make the play-offs. I think Rotherham and Chesterfield will both struggle. I think Leeds will end up mid-table.

My ideal situation would be Blades winning Championship, Owls getting relegated to League 2, Leeds getting relegated to League 1. Don't know why, but I always like to see Rotherham and Doncaster do well!

I think SUFC are better prepared this coming season. But the defence worries me,Chris Morgan is a decent defender so was Page the 2002/03 season. But last season 2003/04 he did not play well in many matches, but I hope he does well for Cardiff.Steve Kabba is a good young player who last season had a nightmare & Utd will have him back nearer xmas, giving Warnock another good player to fight for a place.SWFC have a lot of young players but I still think they will have a decent season.Donny have done really well from the Conference to Div 3 to Div 2they could be the modern day Wimbledon who know's.As for the other Yorkshire teams I think Barnsley have a good chance on promotion with a good manager.Leeds mid table.Chesterfield I feel will be relegated they were lucky last season.Rotherham just out of relegation again.Good luck to all the other teams.

Not a bad start from the Blades but Ashley Ward blew it in the last few minutes, Jonathan Forte went round 3 players & laid it on a plate for Ward but too miss from 2 yards is pathetic,I have never rated this guy.Warnock should have left Hayles on he was just getting used to the play when he was taken off.As for Harley what a signing he is going to be,he was brilliant.Oh dear SWFC lost 3.0 in the last 5 mins what can I say,get rid of the the manager a goalkeeper has not succeded in becoming a manager & I do not think Turner will do it either.well done to the other Yorkshire teams.

Beastieboy
08-08-2004, 11:46
What a ****! I never rated him and questioned the signing from the start, why get rid of Asaba for that?

On the plus side was a good pochers goal from Andy Gray, Forte is coming through with flying colours, Harley and Hayles look to be doing well and Bromby did well to. I was suprised Quinn wasn't played, I think a top six finish is the least this team should do.

asaba??? id rather have ward......

but agreed about rest, forte is really starting to impress, and quinn shud have started from the off set.

as for hayles though, he dint even have a shot yesterday

I wonder if Hayles would have put the chance away that Ward missed?

IMO Asaba is on the same level as Ward but did hit a few good goals for us, had a bit more energy and opend play up for others around him. Yet again Ward, Morgan and the rest of the team were giving too many free kicks from set pieces in the Burnley box.

tosh13
09-08-2004, 09:27
I think Hayles will open his account against Stoke or Reading this week.I liked Asaba he was more of a team player than Ward.A few old Blades players scored at the weekend Allison, who in my mind should never have been in the team, all he was for Warnock was a target man & did not score many goals in the last 2 seasons. As for Forte I think he will have a blinding season assuming that he can get a good run in the team.Tomorrow Utd 2 Stoke 1.Saturday Utd 1 Reading 1 we have to watch Forster he is a good player & he has been a thorn in Utds side over the last 2 seasons.

Robbie Loving
10-08-2004, 23:26
asaba always liked one too many touches, and generally lost the ball, although he was a cracking signing to start off with us.

hayles is looking bad to be honest, one shot in 2 games is not filling me with optimism, but we shall see

bromby, who i dint think wud do any good is now making me eat my own words, hes playing good and them throws COME ON

tonge needs dropping as does monty, and so to alan wright

a bit of shuffling round and we cud have a very consistent good team

Kenny
Bromby - jagielka morgan - harley
francis - quinn thirlwell - forte
liddell
Gray

i am obviously picking this team when players are fit ie francis

subs could be, tonge kozluk monty kabba sharp

Beastieboy
11-08-2004, 19:11
I just hope Forte gets more time on the pitch this season, Tonge is carrying on from the end of last season does not look sharp enough, Bromby's throws are better than Tonges corners.

Then again how long did it take to get a win last season?
How did we manage not to score on Tuesday? Hope we can do better against Reading.

Robbie Loving
12-08-2004, 18:00
well as i saw it, we only had one good shot, but the ref seemed intent on making sure we dint score, and he seemed to hate harley.

wasn't impressed with quinny doing his antics of going for player and not ball LOL

de goey is a great signing for stoke though definately

saturday shud see a better game at BDTBL cause reading are a lot more attacking than the sly stoke and burnley, and with little out of there side we have one less thorn

As a blade I hope we can get to the promised land, but I feel we have had our chance when brown was here and now it looks like the play offs at best.
As for the owls I think they shoul'd at least make the play offs, their trouble is when teams come to hillsbrough they raise their game.
Barnsley will make the play offs they have signed some good players and in ian hart they have a good manager who plays the game like it shoul'd be played.
Huddersfield will get to the play offs and so will Hull City,as for Rotherham I think they may struggle this season without a proven goal scorer.
Donny will finish mid table and I dont think leeds will go up either.

I think Kabba is expected to be fit again at about Christmas. I reckon the Blades will do well again this season even without Kabba... although they haven't managed to win yet this season, their playing has looked quite impressive.

I will be very worried if you win the general election next year though Roy... as you would rid us of some of our best players!

Well what can you say,the new striker Hayles misses a sitter my grandson could have scored,so thats 2 easy misses 1 from Ward & 1 For the new boy.Paul Shaw has scored his 2nd for Rotherhan .Warnock should recall him from his loan spell & quick.Well done to the Owls first day jitters & look at em go.All I can say is wake up the Blades before we have a relegation battle by September.

Maybe so Robbie but this is the 3rd time we have lost to Reading in 3 yrs,it's not good enough playing well & saying we should have scored but the table say's it all.I am so dissapointed I thought we would get off to a cracking start. But that's UTD for yer.I understand it's early doors at the moment but this loss could cost us even a draw would have been something.Reading are our bogey team that's for sure glad we got shut of early doors, but Sunderland & leicester have not had a good day either so we live in hope & all guns a blazin'.Up The Blades.

Dont worry guy's it's still early days yet,if after say 10 or 15 games and we are still not getting the results then we will need to question the managment.
As for Hayles he has got goals wherever he has been so I think he will come good in the end.
Just ****** off that the owls have won again, they might start getting cocky again soon,we will just have to remind them who the no 1 team is wont we.

but at end of day, who have wendy beat???
torquay, who i believe are one of the faves to go down,
blackpool, who i think got hammered 4-0 on this
and they lost to colchester, but yeah colchester are a cracking team LOL
as for internet owl and his comment bout us being bottom of pile, even you and your arrogant wendy fans must realise who are the superior team, IF your lucky enough to get promotion this season, u MAY play us next season, we wont go down, we have played well enough in the 2 games ive watched this season (and another against tottenham) to be convinced we will come good,

and tosh, yes i know its 3rd timew we have lost to reading, but if you look at the score against stoke, and against burnley in the respective games of last season, we have actually GAINED points, so not to worry

Warnock was not best pleased with the international friendly's this week,he said that the friendly's was a waste of time & they should just get together for training sessions as it is important at this stage of the season for players to not get injured.Tonge did not play for the Under 21s so no problems there,Paddy Kenny & Quinn got on the pitch for the Republic in the 71st minute but came out unscathed.I can understand Warnock & other managers being concerned,United have a match on Friday Preston, but the players on International duty will not arrive back at the club until Thursday. Not giving much time for any minor knocks to be treated.Well I hope we get 3 points of Friday as we need them but Preston have been another bogey team like Reading over the past few seasons.I think once Hayles scores his first goal he will be ok.UP THE BLADES
