Can anyone explain to me how I claim my bank charges back and if there's a way to do it without getting all my old statements as my bank makes me pay £5 each for these and i've been with them about 8 years so it would cost as much or possibly more than I'd end up getting back

I think it tells you what to do on there. I havn't really read through it so I'm not sure if it will help you..
Go into your bank brandishing a shotgun (or two if you're good) and demand your charges are re-imbursed.

banks only keep your records for 6 years , online tends to start you statements from when you register and copy statements genreally cost yo u £5 for the lot not each !

Banks are legaly bound (by the data protection act) to supply, on request, all your statements (or the data from them), they can charge a maximum of £10 for this "service".
I got all my charges back from the bank, it takes time, and can be a bit scarey but it's worth the effort.
