I recently moved into Coode house in August after securing a job in the city, and am now reaching the point where I think I can afford Sky!

After seeing that there are 2 satellite outputs in our living room, I thought we may aswell get Sky+. However, whilst just having a browse of these forums, I found that some people have posted about having problems with getting Sky+ to work as one of the satellite outputs had no signal!
There's also been talk of a company called 'New Channels' that didn't seem to get a good reception!

I've just posted to see if I can get some more feedback really, and hopefully some success stories! If not, I don't think i'll bother getting Sky+ after all.

I posted in one of the previous threads you referred to.

Although Coode House has two input sockets for Sky+, no signal comes through the second one. This is due to the one central dish for the building. Sky+ does work up to a point, but not completely. You'll be able to pause and rewind live TV (useful for football matches) and to record programmes if you leave the box on that channel. This is fine if you're taping something either overnight or when you're out of the flat, but you won't be able to watch one digital channel and tape from another one.

Sky+ installation is £99 whereas installation with a standard Sky box is free. It's up to you to decide whether the partial Sky+ capabilities described above are worth £99 to you or not. I'm moving out of Coode House in two weeks and I'm looking forward to having the full Sky+ capabilities in the new place. :D

It seems a little odd that they would go to the trouble of ensuring that there are 2 satellite sockets, yet leave the building with only 1 of them functional.

Additionally, I know people who have Sky+ installed at houses, and you in fact only need 1 dish. You just need 2 feeds from that dish. So I would be shocked if they haven't wired up the 2nd feed if they've gone to the trouble of putting 2 sockets in each flat!

Shouldn't the owners/managers of the building sort this out? Peverel OM isn't it I think?

One thing's for sure, I won't be paying for half a service from Sky. So if the 2nd feed doesn't work, standard sky only for me. Was considering Sky HD too!

spaceghost try contacting the original installers tis in mansfield they should be able to tell you exactly what you should be able to get, if there is a problem contact the developer wilson bowden as all the flats are still under warranty.
