There's a deffinate nip in the air today, I think Autumn is well and truely on the way so I'll start wearing my clapotis now I think. See if I can hold off wearing a coat for a bit longer.

View Full Version : Time for Clapotis I think! bex78 27-09-2006, 12:48 There's a deffinate nip in the air today, I think Autumn is well and truely on the way so I'll start wearing my clapotis now I think. See if I can hold off wearing a coat for a bit longer. Hecate 27-09-2006, 17:47 I was thinking the same this morning. I got off the bus in town and it was blowing a gale! Good job I don't have to walk far. I really need to reblock my Clapotis though, as one of the corners managed to get a bit elongated - I've no idea how or why. Presumably i stretched it too much while blocking it the first time around. I think I might try a wet block and try to get it back into perfect shape. I wish I wasn't such a perfectionist. You can't tell that it's a bit wonky on one corner when it's on, but it's enough that I know the wonkiness is there  . bex78 27-09-2006, 20:51 I'm much the same with cross stitch. if I'm so much as one square out I have to unpick it. Mind you, I usually find that off square is at an important shaping [part and will look horendous if I leave it. I didn't block clapotis, I do like the curly look. Iwas thinking of doing one for evenings out, so I might block it then to make it look smarter. turra21 28-09-2006, 19:11 When you are out and about in Sheffield, keeps your eyes peeled for fellow forum members, you'll all be wearing a clapotis!!!! Anonymity reigns no more. Ha Ha Lucy-Lastic 29-09-2006, 09:04 When you are out and about in Sheffield, keeps your eyes peeled for fellow forum members, you'll all be wearing a clapotis!!!! Hecate 29-09-2006, 09:06 I will still be anonymous:hihi: Saying that Turra I think the majority of the group are from outside Sheffield anyway arent they? That's an interesting point; I wonder where we're all from? I think we need a thread with a poll... doodle 29-09-2006, 15:14 Okay, I have to ask as I have no idea. What is Clapotis? Hecate 29-09-2006, 15:40 Okay, I have to ask as I have no idea. What is Clapotis? Here's Clapotis (http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html). medusa 29-09-2006, 15:50 As pretty as that is, I'm rarely to be found in my own knitwear or crochet garments, and I'm unlikely to be seen in a Clapotis. I can't bear anything too warm round me (so that rules out most jumpers) or anything round my neck, cos I don't want to start a hot flush off, so my friends and family are the recipients of most of virtually everything I make. (Am I a knitting group undercover member?) doodle 29-09-2006, 17:05 Here's Clapotis (http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html). That's pretty, looks a bit too complicated for me to do just yet. I'm still mastering the purl stitch :D Hecate 29-09-2006, 17:11 That's pretty, looks a bit too complicated for me to do just yet. I'm still mastering the purl stitch :D It's far less complicated then the pattern makes it look, honest. You don't even need to use all those stitch markers; you can just mark the drop stitch with a purl instead. The recommended yarn is lovely to work with too, if a little on the expensive side. Worth it though. |
