The BBC has announced it has spent £1.2M of licence payers' money on rebranding its links, known as idents, between programmes.

Is this value for money or not? Is it necessary?

Well, I found a link to a great website which shows a vast collection of idents which will be familiar to us all.

This will really take some of you back, to waiting for the boring science programme at school, watching the dots disappear one by one around the clock. I enjoyed looking at some of these old idents.

Maybe that £1.2M is money well spent?!

1.2M is a lot of money just for that. I suppose at least we will get to see something new on BBC for a change, rather than just endless repeats.

How can you say BBC shows endless repeats? It has more new programmes than any other set of channels.

As for the £1.2 million, It's quite cheap this time but didn't they change them 3 years ago and it cost about 18 million?

You'll not find more idents in one place anywhere else on the web. It's having a bit of an overhaul at the moment, but on there are idents from every ITV station there has been, loads off BBC and Channel 4 idents, and a few international ones too.

It did yesterday ........ you're right though cos I've just tried it ........ bugger. Bet they're doing maintenance or adding stuff. There was a load of new stuff that went on on the 17th so it should be there still .........

Surely 1.2 Million quid would be much better spent on improving their programming? And not some crappy "Idents" that are on screen for all of 2 seconds?! :loopy:

When you think that episodes of My Hero and My Family have budgets of around a million per episode you realise just how expensive television is.
