Does anybody remeber this film about Sheffield? Some car theif singing in the fountain and a bird who got locked up in Greece for dancing trying to make it as a singer!!!! I need a copy of this. I have looked everywhere no joy. Could anybody help.

Cheers in advance

Somewhere, I have this on VHS. It is undoubtedly one of the funniest films I've ever seen - though I was never sure whether it was meant to be so hysterical, or whether it genuinely thought it was a hard-hitting, gritty documentary about the city's chancers.

The prize comic turn has to be the 'actor', who seemed to be actually delusional about his abilities, and who we see trying to blag a sponsored Skoda despite the fact that he can't drive, on the off-chance that one day in the future he would be famous.

There is a caveat of course. While it was very very funny, it was also excruciatingly embarrassing for all Sheffielders. It makes you laugh like a drain, and it makes your toes curl.

If I can find my copy, I'll let you know.

What about the odeous business man who's gonna make everyone a star!

What happened to these people, are they still around?

Come on, own up someone must know these Sheffield Superstars.

EDIT: Glen Brodie (Car Thief/Karaoke King) Sarah Smith (Dirty Dancer), Paul Wallace (Hustler) & Wayne Chadwick (Media Moghul) come on down....your time for fame has come!

Incidentally, there's already an old thread about this film on the forum, in which I make a spookily similar post to the one I made above. However, it's notable for the fact that after I'd unthinkingly referred to the 'dirty dancer' character as a 'daft lass', one of the other posters revealed that she was in fact his cousin...

Possible, but unlikely. Try contacting Channel 4 directly. I did about a documentary I wanted, and got a response in 2 or 3 days.
