It was great, I looked out of the window at work at about 1.50 and thought "Sod that I'm off"

Reached home just as the first drops started falling

The traffic going around Park Square roundabout was almost at a standstill - rain was lashing down so quickly no one could see where they were going ! Oh, and to the person who was waiting to cross the road outside the railway station who I sprayed with water, I am SOOO sorry ! I could barely see where I was going and, although I was driving very slowly ,I didn't see that HUGE puddle. Sorry

Looks like it's chucking it down wingerworth / dronfield way so I guess something heavy is heading towards Sheffield.

Something went wrong with the drain network in the city centre ... we had a lot of rain, but we didn't have THAT much. There was a pool of water two feet deep on Pond Street, another one close to that on Park Square at the Broad Lane exit; several other similar ones all over the place.

I really miss not being sat right next to a window anymore (though everything else about my new job is miles better). I can't see what's going on anymore really, I certainly didn't see it lashing it down today.

I finished work and went to broomhill to get the young un from nursery, the roads were like rivers. Water was spouting out of the drains and there was a smell like sewers. I have never been so wet the rain completley saturated me in 30 seconds. Although I was touched by the kind bus driver on the stagecoach 52 who gave me a brolly.. thankyou :D

our storm drain system is so clogged up with grit and leaves it simply cannot cope with a large amount of rain in a short period of time. Why do the councill not clear them out??

If you even need to ask, you don't know much about our council :hihi:

Most of their workers today were busy digging up the tarmac around our estate that they laid freshly last week.
