Thanks! ear8dmg 29-07-2004, 12:44 The weather's pretty unpredictable in winter. During the past few years there's only been a few days of snow per year. From around December to February it uaually hovers around -2 to 5 degrees centigrade for minimum temberatures. Getting any more than a few days of snow at a time is rare. I do recall one bitter winter when it went below -5 but that's a rare occurrance. On the other hand I've known it be 15 degrees in January. Rain in winter is fairly random. It might rain or snow for weeks on end or it could be dry for ages. Mor often than not we'll get a few cloudy days, a few sunny days and occasional rain or fog. It sometimes gets pretty windy up on the hills too. tas1 29-07-2004, 13:24 www.bbc.co.uk - have an online weather panel - you can type in the location and it'll tell you the current weather forcast. If it does snow, then they're generally quick to grit but until they do - depending on the type of snow - it can snarl up in the centre as a lot of the back roads are not good to drive on. It depends a lot on where you live in sheffield as to how much snow you get - but it does usually melt with a day or so. letting 19-11-2004, 09:28 We have lots of snow today muddycoffee 21-11-2004, 11:34 Sheffield being extremely hilly, traffic often stands still when we get a bit of snow. Although this usually only happens for what amounts to around 5 days every winter. Sheffield often has opposite weather to manchester as the pennines split the weather systems up. If it's raining in Manc its fine in Sheff. Even though we've had a wet summer during 2004, was still able to get sun tan in back garden.. It's a mild 10ºc today although quite windy. In the winter you will need a warm jumper, but in the summer you will be fine. There are lots of spanish students who stay in sheffield in the summer to come to the language schools. And they all go out in just t-shirts and don't seem to complain about the weather. It is much colder in places like Holland and Other parts of North or central Europe. |
