i bought a new card (geforce fx 5200)
when i installed it my deskyop icons disappeared to the right hand side of the screen where i couldn't see them.
i have had to take the card out again now.
my old graphics card is built in to the mother board.
help

Have you tried altering the screen resolution and refresh rate? Start at a low setting - 800x600 @ 60Hz and keep increasing.

:) also,u should download the new driver 4 your card from the nvidea site,as the driver that comes with the card is prob quite old now.when its installed & rebooted,u should get an icon appear next 2 the clock & yer firewall,u can alter the screen resolutions-coulour depth-blah blah with this.ours r set at 1024x768 pixels & 85hertz,make sure u tick the box that says-hide modes that this monitor cant support.they reckon that the higher the hertz on yer monitor will go the better as 60hertz & below gives u headache. hope this helps,willo

60Htz is fine for Flat Screen's (LCD TFT's)

That graphics card was out of date 4 years ago.

:) thats what i meant,but di'nt want 2 pee im off seen as hes jus bought it,1 o the lads where we game was on bout upgradin from a gt600 2 summat more expensive cos his tft monitor was struggling.

The Geforce FX5200 will still play most games on the market, depends what the OP is intending to play on their PC, after all they only had onboard graphics before.

A GT6600 will make no difference to their TFT monitor.

not with a tft it wo'nt,in fact it wo'nt with a crt either,our second p.c. has got a 5200 in it & if u try doom 3 on it,its like 1 o those ole 70s discos with the stuttering lites unless u turn all the effects off then its like playin on a ps1.apparantly a tft has 2 run at default which is 1060x blah blah-or 1240xblah blah,depending on quality[how much it was etc]so [apparantly] runnin a hungry game like doom3-oblivion-etc requires u 2 turn the graphics effects on the card off,but apparantly this then makes the card work harder cos its havin 2 stretch the picture more to fill the screen on the tft.but like u said its mebbe not bein used 4 gamin,either way ev bod ive asked says they have 2 be set at default.hope this helps.willo.

I just got a shiny new X1900XT which will be going in my new rig when it's finished at the end of next month. Can't wait :D Only has to cope with 1680x1050.

:) any way i'm jus jealous cos the missis wo'nt let me get a tft-lol.hope u get it sorted m8.

:) :) just as a p.s. theres a programme called tuneup utilities that u can try free 4 30 days,with this u can optimise all settings really easy & [incase u'r a bitto a dummy like me-lol] theres a backup restore on it.

he changed something in the bios{whatever that is}.
my 9 year old son bought the game for a tenner,,ended up costing us £70,,dear game eh??
