:help: I am organising a party for around 100 guests and some will be travelling from Manchester. Can anyone suggest function rooms easy for all to get to please? I thought hillsborough area as it's near the route to Woodhead

I can't recommend anywhere but Hillsborough, Broomhill and Crooks area are easily accessible from Manchester by both the Snake Pass and the Woodhead. There are loads of pubs up towards Broomhill and Crookes, one of them must have a decent sized function room.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of Broomhill and Crookes. I'll add them to my list of 'possibles'.

Hi,

Depending upon how soon - and what night - you need somewhere, try the Fulwood Inn; it's a massive pub, can easily section off an area for your party (it's fairly quiet) and has ample parking space.

I've been to do's there and always enjoyed.

Hi, thanks for that. I forgot to say it must have ample parking. It's not until after xmas so there is plenty of time to organise it - hopefully!

Newton Hall at Chapeltown. Easily cater for more than 100 guests and is licensed.

Niagara Sports and Social at bottom of Wadsley Bridge. That holds 250 plus but I think you need to know someone who works for the police to organise that for you.

You might also think about Sheffield Wednesday's facilities - Hillsborough, easy to get to and ample parking. Contact is David Smith 0870 999 1867 or david@sheffieldwednesday.co.uk

I'm told you have to use the caterers, Harrods if you book Niagara, I didn't think they were great when I attended a function there. I think you should be free to use your own caterers if you are paying for the venue.

Many thanks for all the suggestions. We would prefer to do our own catering but hire a DJ. No doubt it will all come together one day

Niagara is catered for by Harrods at Ecclesfield.

We had a wedding party there, and food was ok, but they do follow strict Health and Safety guidelines and the food is taken away after an hour or so.
They also have a resident DJ you can hire.

Newton Hall is a nice old building. Its got a kitchen and a bar area. You usually get an outside bar in. I think they use the Wharncliffe at Burncross. There is some parking available as well.

Thanks for the advice Jim. I went to a wedding recently where the food was taken away. There was loads left but no one saw any of it. The bride did want guests to take some home seeing as they'd paid for it all.It wasn't the same caterers though. Must remember to provide "doggy bags" :hihi:

Hello

We operate the Stars & Mayfair Private Function Rooms on Queens Road, Sheffield. We have two rooms which have recently been redecorated and are licensed for 420 & 380 respectively.

We have a full night club license and photographs of our rooms can be seen via our website

Unfortunately, we are new users to the Forum and as a consequence the system will not allow us to issue our website address until we have done 15 posts on the Forum site

Please feel free to contact us on 0114 272 3037

We are centrally located with a large free car park and we are on one of Sheffield’s main taxi routes into town, so getting a taxi late at night is a breeze

We had a surprise party for my Mom at the Old Crown Inn, Scotland Street on Saturday and I just want to tell anyone thinking of holding a party to book here.

They were great, couldn’t do enough for us and all the staff working there were really nice and helpful.

They provided a buffet and the food was spot on and the price was right.

Can’t recommend them strongly enough, every one had a great time and we will defiantly be going back

Thanks Guys

Hi

I hope you mean Japs?

Given that the user has quoted the user 'Japs', I think it's safe to assume that that's who he's speaking about. :)

I'm going to ask that the bickering stays off the Forum, please. If Japs and Skate have issues with you, they need to sort it out away from SF. They will be PMd with regard to this.

And if this sniping carries on, we will simply suspend their accounts.
