I think people either love em or loathe em! Personally I love em but woundered what other people think - what are your ratty experiences?

Rats are fabulous animals, easy to tame and train. Super intelligent and much more interesting than similar small furries.

Rats- in fact all rodents are good pets, but rats are the most sociable and the most intelligent.
Plus for snake keepers theyre a good source of protein for their pets.

I think my rat would probably have my snake rather than the other way round. Another great thing about them is that they are like a living garbage disposal, can and will eat anything!

If you mean wild ones, they're a complete pain. They gnaw everything and pee everywhere. I reluctantly got the council to put poison down cos the little blighters were getting out of hand.

Unfortunately half the local squirrels ate it as well.

I'm on the fence on this one. I've never liked thier tails, dp insisted he wanted some for his birthday and here they are, still nameless though...

I don't love or hate rats. I think they're pretty cool, but their little pointy faces just don't have the 'cute' value of guinea pigs. They smell more too.

I've found a lot of people say that! They like the front end but there is something about their tails!!

I'm ok with their faces and body but when i see there tails i just feel really sick :gag:

We've had rats, pet ones I mean. They're wonderful, tame, friendly, never been bitten (unlike hamsters or mice). U can train them to do all manner of tricks
I would recommend them to anyone for their kids as a pet

Hey,

I love rats...Especially the blues and huskies... One day I'd love to have some but their health issues really put me off - prone to respiratory infections (mycoplasma), tumours and often only have very short life spans (unless bought from a good breeder).

But yes, rats are definitely on the 'want' list :)

I absolutely love rats. I used to own a Hymalian wex rat, I called him Ru. Short for kangeroo cause when he was a baby he had huge back legs. Unfortuantely as has been mentioned they have a very short life span. I looked at some the other day in Pets at Home I would love another one but my partner and his daughter hate them. Also my dog used to get really really jelous as he does over the rest of my pets. Keep on with the photos people cause they are all lovely. fox20: your ratties are beautiful!

I would love rats but my other half hates them. but I actually have ten in my freezer for my snake I actually wish it would eat something different as I kinda feel guilty everytime i get one of the pure white rats out but if anyone has any ideas I am willing to try.

i like them. People misunderstand them I think! they make great pets.. I never had one!but my niece has two!!!!! ( people think rats are dirty) and the same with pigs..

Lovely animals....sooo resourceful. Which is exactly what makes them great pets.
