This morning, our little chihuahua had to be put to sleep at only 5months old.
The vets are keeping her body until Monday, and then we can decide what to do with her.
Im quite sure theres an actual pet cemetery in Sheffield somewhere? am i correct? Ive searched google and also looked in the yellow pages, but all i can find is crematorium services.
I want to actually bury her with a little gravestone so i can visit there

Can anyone help me on this?

I'm so sorry to hear about this, and I think there's a crematorium/cemetary for pets too, but I've never needed their number (*makes wishes in her head and touches wood*).

I'm going to move this to the Pets group where you're likely to find someone who knows the answer.

Have you tried the council? Quite often they will be able to put you in touch with somewhere that does it

Sorry I don't know of one, nor can I find one... You could always phone a vet in Sheffield and ask?

Phone Hallam Vets and ask there, that's where I go: 0114 2343013

Also - remember you don't have to have a grave to have a memorial plaque placed somewhere where you can always visit.

Otherwise, can I suggest I have decided to be cremated when I die, and I want Takara to be cremated when she goes so that our ashes can be mixed together and scattered over our favourite walking areas. I saw this somewhere and thought it was a lovely idea, you may want to consider it if you can't find a cemetry.

You could have a look at this (http://www.goodbyemypet.co.uk/index.php)and do a diy funeral

how about burying her in your garden (or a local woodland) and making a head stone yourself ... or even plant something pretty over the top.

all my pets that have passed away at home are burried in my garden with a fusha bush, rose and clematis that flower yearly to remember them by.

Don't tell your vet, they will just want to make as much possible out of your grief as they can.

A garden burial is a nice idea unless you move. Then you leave your pets behind and can't visit their graves. My great aunt has a little shrine for her bichon in her garden but she won't be moving again now as she's elderly.

Burying her in our garden is not an option at all. Were planning on moving because we live on the Manor and its terrible.
Were going to see about cremating her and burying her ashes.

Thanks to everyone for the replies to this, its helped

When our lovely cat Floyd died, we had him cremated. We thought about putting his ashes in the garden but were also worried about what would happen if we moved.

Our solution was to plant a tree in a large pot and place the box with the ashes under it. We picked a pussy willow, which seemed appropriate, and we can always take the pot with us if we move.

Just a thought.

Very sorry for your loss Rachel

Is there anywhere in sheffield where you can bury animals ashes? We've sorted out the cremation its happening sometime this week, but my mum is wanting to bury her ashes in a proper place where we can take our other dog and visit

When my little dog who I grew up with died, she was cremated, and we sprinked her ashes over the grave of my Dad, who had died a few years before.

Have you thought of buying a nice big pot & planting a nice flowering plant in it ? You could then pop her ashes in there. That way if ever you move you can take her with you.

Really sorry for your loss. My two cats were cremated but I couldn't let them go and they sit in their boxes with their names on on my bookshelf, with me always
