Hi can anyone help us please by saying if they heard anything or saw anything last night/ earlyhours in beighton on the dirt track/lane between grange road and the back gardens of manvers road.(22/9/06)
as our blue rover metro (115 SD) was stolen last night.
if u live in sheffield please keep your eyes peeled for it its a vivid blue with no sill covers on it and the rear black trims are missing from both sides. It has blue spray Paint on both back tyres.
inside the rear interior pannels have been removed.
Therefore this makes our car quite unique.
The car is a reg number is M 564 HKH
Please pm me or Humperlumper or post a reply.
The car has been reported missing to the Police by us.
If u Know where our car is please pm with details thanks

I'm sorry to hear about your theft- hopefully someone will spot it and you'll get it back with little damage, because insurance won't pay up half of what the car is worth to you, or compensate you for the faff of getting another one that you can depend upon.

Sorry I can't give you any news of the car- I'll keep my eyes peeled though.

Did the police give you a crime number, that you can post on here, so anyone seeing it can quote over the phone?

Just been driving around the local area for about two hours looking for the car. I've seen thousands of cars, but only Three metros. Perhaps they're becoming rare! Have'nt seen any the same colour as ours which is sort of wheelie bin (recycled paper) blue. Rover called it electric blue.
Should make ours dead easy to find.

I've been out too, looking all afternoon. I've checked all the caves in Castleton, spoken to numerous contacts and I've snooped around some unlicensed back street gambling joints. I've also checked a number of petrol stations, just to see if anyone has seen it hanging around, but to no avail. I've checked a couple of mini skips, and spoken to numerous other mini metro owners (usually at traffic lights and roundabouts) but none of them have been able to help me. Having said that, the mini metro drivers who actually stopped for me tended to be very friendly people, but did look at me asthough I have 8 heads. I've checked most of the bins in town. I can confirm, it wasn't in any of them either. I may consider a wheelie bin hunt, just to see if anyone has popped it in one of the many millions which line our city streets every weekday.

Have you considered popping "missing car" posters up on lamp posts?

If anyone spots it can they contact me first and I will contact the OP just incase they decide to place a reward on its head. I will go halves on any return I manage to negotiate.

Did the thief leave any sort of ransom note for the mini metro's safe return?

Crime, together we'll crack it!

Got to hand it to you — nobody but nobody could forget PURPLE! But what colour, exactly, is ‘pinky type purply’? I could quite easily forget that.

Sorry to hear about that. Will also keep an eye out for you.

Someone tryed to have our Fiesta away not so long ago. It was only that she is a cow to start if you don't know the technique, so they couldn't start her that means we still have her.

Good luck in finding her!

A good investment if you get in back in one piece will be a disclok, they might be pricey at £80ish pounds but they are well worth the money.

For those of you who are taking the mick just grow up..Everyone has their own taste in cars and there is nothing wrong with a Metro.

25-09-2006, 21:26
Thanx skatie chick but we have a couple of cars and as you said disklocks dont come cheap. Two of the cars have disklocks on, but the metro had a cheeper gear lever/ handbrake lock. It would seem these aren't any good, thanx anyway. oh and still no luck!

Thanks to everyone for viewing and replying to our thread. Keep your eyes peeled as Metty hasn't turned up yet (poss. now broken up for bits).
Maybe there should be a separate section on the forum just for stolen cars since Norwich Union declared Sheffield the stolen car capital!!!
Please keep your pride & joy safe, and watch out for people nicking parts off them.

mini metro owners
mini metro drivers
mini metro's safe return

Just what is a Mini Metro ? there has not been a mini metro since 1981, I wish people like yourself and Sheffield Star in particular would get their facts right.

The name Metro was chosen by BL after the company's employees were balloted to decide what name should be used either Metro, Maestro or Match.

The company Metro-Cammell who manufactured trains insisted that BL could only use the name METRO, if it was pre-fixed with the word "Mini" and was deemed a good idea as the car was originally designed to replace the orginal mini, this only lasted a short while due to the success of the car and the continued production of the Mini.

There is a blue rover metro in Meadowhall car park - it looks stolen its de bagged and clamped.

Its tax disk was blue so that will run out this year.

its in the front car park - go out the doors nearest to argos and its in the rear of that - all call meadowhall

We have invested in disc locks for all of our cars. They were roughly £80 each but are well worth the money. The only problem is they are a little large, and they get really hot in the summer!

Good luck with looking for the car hope you find it.

Sorry about that - You're right!
I couldn't get there to look at the time so someone went for me, they must have looked at the wrong car.
I had a look last night and found the Metro - Sadly it wasn't mine.
Mine is not metallic paint its plain (medium?) Blue. A bit like blue wheelie bin colour.

Thanks again for looking.
Keep 'em peeled.

I was searching gumtree for a car, a cheap car and a Rover came up as a candidate.
Never seen them much and wanted to find out more about them; hence, did a google search to see whether there would be facts, comments and reviews, when I found this entry to this forum saying one just like it had been stolen.

I simultaneously hope and don't hope, if you know what I mean.
The picture in the gumtree ad doesn't show the registration at that angle but maybe you can recognize it in other ways. I hopes it is a useful lead.

By the way its annoying having to register and join every forum one wants to leave even just a single post, but I did want to let you know. I expect a nice reward if, in the unlikely event this does turn out to be your stolen rover :hihi:
