View Full Version : Heeley farm
Ive just read in(sheffield star) and am totally disgusted at what has happenned to heeley farm --again.
those poor animals have been subject to having bricks thrown at them. and horrible things which have caused injuries to them.
all done by a set of vandals who also smashed up the animal pen windows, slashed plastic greenhouses, sprayed a pregnant sow
(in another attack 3 weeks ago)with graffiti and as a result she lost 3 of her young.
the farm had recovered from the arson attack on it 7 yrs ago
which animals were killed.
forgive me if the farm has been brought up in any earlier thread
before, but i just had to express my disgust.
ive just read the exact artical and it made me feel sick, for people to actually go around and do this to poor animals makes me wonder the exact state of mind they have! and how far would they go for so called "kicks" i cant type the language i would use to describe such scum!
Morons.
I see no sense at all in any of this - no personal gain, nothing except mindless damage and violence inflicted for cheap thrills.
Of course, if the police manage to get anyone the penalties will probably be non-custodial fines that won't get paid anyway.

Animal cruelty makes me so angry!!
What are kids thinking of these days, when they go out and decide to cause harm or injury to living creatures, who have little chance of defending themselves.
There was another case here in the midlands, about some kids who broke into the wallaby enclosure at Dudley Zoo and threw some wallabies into a pond. The wallabies subsequently drowned. Where do people get off causing harm to innocent creatures?
MuteWitness 27-07-2004, 21:18 It must be longer than 7 years ago since the fire i visited the farm alot as i used to live up the road and was so angry when the 3 horses were killed when someone set fire to teh stable one horse died instantly but the others sam and barney died later on.
i think a lot of this animal cruelty is linked to feed back from parents because if they dont respect animals then their kids wont too.
not all cases but the majority.
all my lads love animals.
one day there was a baby lamb trapped on a very high hill on the back of a farm that backs on to our woods,
it had been baa-ing all morning ,so someone told us.
and we noticed that if it wasn't rescued soon it would fall a lot of feet to its death.
so i knocked on the farmers door but no answer.
then someone told me that the farmland was hired out to someone across on the estate and he only came over very early mornings and perhaps evenings.
i then contacted one of my teenage sons who tried to get to the lamb but couldnt,
then i fetched my other son who scrambled up the very high
hill and climbed over to where the lamb was and lifted it out of danger. it subsequently ran straight to its mother.
(all that mountain and rock climbing my sons done with the bb came in handy lol)
but other people just didn't bother.
you could clearly here it crying out for miles.
carcrash 28-07-2004, 16:16 I've been involved with Heeley festival for the last couple of years, you will not find a more dedicated staff group that the people who work there. It's a great place and when stuff like this happens it makes me sick.
andy1702 30-07-2004, 00:44 I just wanted to add my support for Heeley City Farm.
Does anyone out there know if there's anything we can do to help get things back to normal?

Well, alot of the plastic tunnel "greenhouses" were destroyed, I assume if you pop down and find out what needs repairing you could offer up to go and buy what needs buying for them.
Ned Ludd 30-07-2004, 09:03 They need a high voltage electric fence to keep the scum out.
Why do these morons destroy things in their own back yards?
Rusted Root 30-07-2004, 20:27 Hmm. It is truly disgusting what has happened to Heeley Farm. I more of less expected it soon enough though. I used to help out at the farm and I was always suprised that the animals were left alone.
It was very easy to get to them afterall. Plus, when the farm is closed, the whole thing is pretty open. You can walk right up to the goat shed and they're are no fences blocking the veggie patch and gardens.
Well they're wasn't when I was there.
Maybe it's time they made the place more secure.
MuteWitness 30-07-2004, 21:19 but there shouldnt need to be fences around it people should have the respect to leave it alone,

Sign of the times though innit?
Disgusting behaviour! You can bet that if one of these scumbags had been injured by one of the animals there would be a 'damages' claim from their parents(s) by now.
These scum are just pure evil!!
No chance of catching them I suppose?
purplepippa 02-08-2004, 22:56 It's such a shame
I went there for the first time last week, and really loved it - the place, the philosophy behind it, the atmosphere, the people involved.
And I stroked a chicken:cool:
Gutted to read that this happened
