View Full Version : What Sunday paper do you read?
I happened across a copy of the Independent on Sunday in a pub today and was quite impressed. I know it's not a "cool" paper, but I thought the layout was excellent and they had some very interesting columns - far more original than the Times for example.
What paper, if any, do you read on a Sunday? And why?
As far as newspapers go I much prefer The Sunday Times to the Independant. Business news and Politics I think it beats Independant on both counts.

Yes I would agree with that. I should have mentioned that I was only reading the main section of the paper and didn't have chance to read the rest (drank my beer too fast!).
I have the News Of The World and The Sunday Mirror. I use to have The Sunday People but they started to put too much sport in it.
I read The Observer. It's a truly independant newspaper as opposed to The Times which gets its editorial content from the desk of Rupert Murdoch.
Why do I read it?
It has a sport pullout which you can throw away without demolishing the main paper.
It has a good magazine, readable cash section, interesting holiday section and the main paper just about sums up the week's news. I also find the contributors to the letters page articulate and, at times, amusing.
The columnists are very readable too.
The people and the mirror, although I am looking for a change as both these newspapers are full of nothing but showbiz and tv. icons and who and how many times they have had sex with, how boring, or is it because of my age,( it could be. )

Why is the Independent on Sunday not a "cool" newspaper? What is the definition of a "cool" newspaper?
I read THE TIMES UNION..
I check my horoscopes daily (Or try to) and check the LOCAL news.....
I don't ready any, I used to read the Express though for the comic pages.
My Uncle's partner's good though, she brings me the free CDs out of the Daily Fail.
samesame 17-12-2008, 07:10 Mail on sunday top paper.:)
IfYouSeekAmy 17-12-2008, 10:17 Yep, Mail On Sunday for me. It's like the Daily Mail that you get during the week but bigger!
brianthedog 17-12-2008, 12:33 The Sunday Times all the way for me. Used to occasionally buy other papers but as a rule I completely stop buying papers when I see the word 'Celebrity' on the front cover. So unfortunately, I'm reduced to The Times, Sunday Time and the FT. Oh, and Private Eye although that's hardly news - more like toilet reading.
slimsid2000 17-12-2008, 12:40 The Sunday Sport. How else would you know that Elvis has been living on the moon with Lord Lucan for over 20 years.

kittenta 17-12-2008, 12:48 I wonder how much those papers have changed in 5 years ;)

boutiquechoc 17-12-2008, 16:02 Times as it's a good read, or if someone else buys one I still flick through, but if someone I visit has the scum of the world, ooops I mean: news of the world, then I love a read of that - just to catch up on all the s***
I read The Observer, in The Hillsborough Hotel, on a Sunday evening over a few pints
