View Full Version : Wadsley Park Village
Hello all,
I gather some development is still underway? Does anyone know who the developers are? Im looking for a flat really?
Anyone live on their? opinions?
Im a hillsborough lad, but its the wrong end of hillsborough, oppsosite "beirut" as its known?
redinsheff 27-07-2004, 16:04 Bloor Homes are on there - Wimpey have built the apartments/houses towards the bottom/right end...and PJ Livesey's have re-developed Kingswood Hall...
DannyBoy 04-08-2004, 20:56 Just out of interest, which bit of Hillsborough is known as "Beirut"? I always found it an OK place to shop when I lived in Lower Walkley - not many suburbs have their own Woolies, CoOp and Boots, after all - but a bit let down by the run-down air and the boarded-up shops. I gather it can get "lively" (not in a good way) on a Friday and Saturday night as well...
We drove up to WPV a few times before we found somewhere in Loxley. The houses seem good, but they are over-priced for the area. And it's going to be a building-site for a good couple of years yet. And surely the extra families are, sooner or later, going to put pressure on place availability at Marlcliffe and Wisewood schools (the designated primary and secondary for WPV) and parents will be faced with the prospect of their darlings going to Chaucer alongside the people over the road in Winn Gardens....hmm.
pussycat 16-08-2004, 15:12 I assume "Beirut" refers to the Winn Gardens estate. I live in Wadsley Park Village and it's absolutely fine - no probs at all. I walk past the estate to get to the tram stop and I've never seen anything to worry me. One of the Council flats there was boarded up last week, but has already been fixed up and someone new moved in. In fact they mostly look pretty tidy from the outside. I'm not intending to try the estate pub in a hurry though...
redinsheff 16-08-2004, 16:03 I agree...just moved onto Wadsley Park myself and not seen any trouble at all - finiding it quite quiet actually...!
I live in Wadsley PV too it is really quiet, you do get the odd winn gardener straying onto the estate mainly kids but all harmess
As for flats there are quite a few some in southwood grove, there is a big woodside dev being built at minute and kingswood which is almost finished
thanks,
im going to look at one of the new builds on church view.
Who are the other developers ? are their more flats going up?
pussycat 18-08-2004, 10:57 There's Redrow, Barratt (think they've finished though - no sales office any more), Harron Homes as well as Bloor, Wimpey and PJ Livesey, as someone mentioned earlier. It's probably worth making a trip to the site so you can go round all the sales offices in one go, but I don't know if they have any flats left.
Some of the more established bits have stuff going up for sale too, so unless you specifically want a brand new one, make sure you check out the estate agents as well spoonz. Good luck!
been looking at kingswood hall, but loads of people are selling on their and they can only have been in 2 minutes. Makes me wonder if their is anything wrong
redinsheff 18-08-2004, 13:11 To be honest, most of the people selling on, in kingswood have decided to cash in - I lived in there for a few months while my place was being finished and it was great - very well finished off. I know a couple of people who bought for around £140k and are now selling (3 months later) for £160-£175k....
I live there and can also say there is nothing wrong with it.
People just saw a quick way to make a few grand, our place has gone up by about 30k since we moved in 8 months ago.
They have been finished to a high standard just to odd thing that needs to be sorted and isn't but you get that in any apartments
seen a few 2 beds for sale. how are the room sizes? pokey?
In general there are quite a few different apartments i.e. in terms of layout so room sizes may well vary from the ones I wandered in when it was built they were generally pretty big, we have a mezzaine for a 2nd bedroom which is big.
Would suggest you have a look at a couple for sale to get an idea
