I'd like to buy a sling, but can only find them on sale on the internet. I'd like to have a look at them in more detail, and maybe try them for size.

Do you know if there is a shop selling them that I can visit?

I'm thinking of either getting the hub-a-bub or the Kari-me slings, but would be happy to hear of your experiences with these or other slings.

I dont know where to try them on, but I had a Wilkinet, and it was excellent. It tied on, which worried me at first, but I found I far preferred it to the buckle ones as it was so nice and soft. There is a website if you are interested which has a video showing you how it works and fits.

I couldnt get along with the pouch type slings though.

You can get some good deals on ebay too.

I bought a Maya Wrap (though it is really a ring sling not a wrap) and I love it. It takes a while to get the hang of adjusting it but I think we are getting there now and it can be used between newborn all the way up to a toddler and in several different positions.

It is still another ebay thing but I thought you might like a recommendation.

We had a Hug a Bub and it was the most brilliant thing ever when I was small. He was a big baby though and it was really only good until he was about 6 months - I didnt feel the fabric supported him well after then. I felt he was really well supported and I had no back/ shoulder ache with it. I could pop him in the sling and he would calm down quickly and I could get on with other things. I believe the difference between the Hug a Bub and the Kari-me is the fabric they are made from and finish. On the HaB it is made from a thick t-shirt type material and is very well finished (also has a pocket at the front which is handy for placement). The Kari -me I think is sort of more swim suit type material (I could be wrong here though) and isnt finished off the same - I think it is considerably cheaper than the HaB.

Wrap type slings are absolutely fabulous once you get used to putting them on. If the need ever rose again I would be tempted to look at a woven wrap (Storchenweige look brilliant or something like that) as you would be able to use it for longer and would even be able to do a back carry with it.

Sorry I dont know off hand of a shop to visit locally:(
