I really like weblogs... do you do one? Do you live in Sheffield? Or round these here parts?

If so put the address up and I'll maybe even put it on the Hallam FM site.

Excuse the ignorance but what is a weblog? Am usually ok with IT terms... must be motherhood that has stifled my brain!

Oh you mean an online diary?

Take a look at mine, nothing special. Just what I have done each day (www.livejournal.com/users/amhudson119)

I have a "diary" in the sense of "Monday: Nip over to bla, blah." which is wrtten in my "agenda" diary. But obviously don't post confidential stuff on the online journal!

I do a blog. It only has 4 posts so far though. It has 80 hits though so not that bad I guess! ;) It is pretty boring so if anyone wants to check it out be warned about the boringness.

Dunno how to do links. Sorry. :D

My (sparsely updated) weblog is at http://www.arrison.co.uk .

Warning: contains bad language and complaining.

Mine also seems to have a lot of complaining (along with the odd review of new snacks)

Not sure it'll be of interest to Hallam FM though...

bit dull and sporadic, but you never know if I think someone's actually reading it I might update more

I keep several blogs, the longest one for 3 years now. I'm not posting the URL's as I'm not sure I want folks on here knowing all my dirty secrets!! I use 3 different sites, two general ones and one very 'specialist'.

I find the best site for blogs is THIS ONE (http://www.20six.co.uk) as you can multi blog including really cool photoblogs!

What do I use mine for?

For moaning, whining, writing about the kids, posting funny stuff and just boring everyday life.

I have a LiveJournal, in fact I've recently started filling it in again online after a brief period since April of not filling in my LJ due to being busy all the time with other stuff.

I think the general concensus amongst the writers is that they are 'uninteresting' and, after reading some (not the ones listed by previous posters) can wholeheartedly agree.

They just seem to be the most boring trivial waste of bandwidth I have ever seen. Buy a diary.

Same here.... I first had SETI years back when at portsmouth uni and let it drop recently due to slow PC. Have recently installed extra memory and is now fine so put BOINC version on since they will migrate to it fully later on...

Nice to know someone read my ramblings :P

I had a read through all of them.

Anyways, off to bed now - early morning. Got to go to Sidcup to give someone there rock from my holiday! :P I can think of better things to do at 8am!

I became aware of blogs in general a couple of years ago, just before they started being popular.

I investigated, played around and then realised that I was a boring sod who spent my time doing stuff rather than writing about it....:-)

About 2 months ago I decided to try again, using a blog as a personal home page as well as a depository for some of my postings from here. My main observations are that it gets updated when I have time - I never had the discipline to keep a paper diary, let alone an electronic one. Also, I'm more interested in the gubbins that makes it work rather than the content! That's incredibly sad, but, hey, I'm a techie!

For anyone that's interested the package I use is something called Wordpress, which is an open source program using PHP and mySQL. It takes a bit of 'anorak power' to configure and set up but it is pretty stable.

I've seen some nice blogs from hobbyists that explore their hobbies and almost become miniature web sites dedicated to that subject. Quite what I'm going to post on mine I'm not sure - I've been thinking of sticking a couple of my short stories and such up the and using it as a 'showcase' for my writing.

We'll see.
