Kelly Services on Church Street always managed to find me work whenever I needed a temporary clerical job. Reasonable pay too.

Thanks, that's great.
Do you know of any that I should avoid?

Yeah, I do. Oh how i know temping agencies...!

Sue Ross Recruitment and Hays personnel are pretty good in Sheff.

I'd steer clear of Addecco, havent temped for the sheff branch, but the bristol bunch are cowboys.

Brook street are ok too.

As a professional temp (sometimes it feels that way) I'd recommend AVOIDING office angels or Kelly, i guess it depends on how much experience you have really but i dont rate em (an after as many jobs as i've had, both as client AND espeically customer, i base my opinion on a lot of experience.). I've often worked with people from these agencies, doing the same job and they've been earning much less than me! So be careful.

Depends what kinda work you want too, it might be worth putting your name on the temporary clerical register at the job centre if you wanna nice easy civil service post.

Hope that helps. Was it clerical you were after?

Hiya

I temped for about 6 months each with Office angels and then with Manpower in Sheffield

Office Angels were really nicey nice at the beginning - getting me to work for them, but their attention didn't last very long. They kept giving me work and stuff, but they just weren't very friendly or approachable - they diddled me out of holiday by not explaining their processes properly and didn't pay me what they promised.

Manpower were lovely though - I was given lots of different placements with them and they were always really nice - gave me regular calls to check I was okay and were really supportive when I applied for permanent jobs elsewhere. I'd definitely work for them again, they just seemed to care about me a lot more.

The stuff I was doing was mainly secretarial, btw.

Hope that helps!

Thanks very much, that's really helpful. I'm after a couple of or three weeks clerical full-time work then looking for something to fit round uni come september. Manpower might be worth a look, thanks for the advice about the others!

I agree that Sue Ross are pretty good. I didn't temp with them as I was looking for permanent work and they came up with various interviews for me within a week. They seem to have contacts within all the major / large firms within the city. Depends what you are looking for though.

I got a job as a PA in a large law firm through them.

I worked for Office Angels for a year and in the main they really looked after me (although by the end I did feel like maybe I had been a temp for too long and they wanted me in any perminate job!)
Having said that they did check I was happy in my placement and get me out of a couple of awful assignments.
Addecco suck I am afriad and my friend worked for Reality and Manpower for 3 years without complaint :-)

I would agree with this utterly. Avoid them like the plague.
