How does sheffield compare with the rest of Yorkshire when it comes to clubbing?

behind leeds (and manchester) but Urban Gorilla is its saving grace.

i agree with red2, UG is awesome, my mates come from all over the north to go there.

Sheffield has, and always has had, a really good underground scene - but is probably behind Leeds in the more mainstream clubbing stakes.

Urban Gorilla is doing the business breaks wise and even seems to be doing the sort of techno stuff that Remedy used to do.

Zero has taken an admirable decsion to go for the more left-field nights and as well as UG, hosts Planet Zogg (Trance/techno), Razor Stilletto (Electro), Riddimption (Reggae) and Hustle (House).

Theres always been lots of good smaller nights in Sheffield -a s well as one off parties at places like the Everyone's Centre & lots of free parties. But Sheffield has always been a bit lacking in the glossy ads in mixmag type clubs (apart from Gatecrasher & Bed of course) - cannot say its bothered me much though.. :)

And Sheffield must be one of the freindliest places to go out in - only place I've been that comes close is Bristol.

Myself and a few friends are going round town dressed in 70's gear one night in August, which is the best date to go to Aqua (under ponds forge) ie busiest night??
