View Full Version : How much sleep do we need? marie1951 22-06-2003, 17:24 sleeping alot  :o Mo 23-06-2003, 09:17 I need about seven hours to function normally but I rarely get more than 3 or 4. This is not out of choice but maddening insomnia. I just can't slow my mind down when I go to bed. I've tried everything from hop pillows to warm baths, reading, exercise and herbal preparations etc etc but none seem to work.  RPG 23-06-2003, 10:36 i usually goto bed about 12~1am and get up at 8 (on weekdays) and 1~2am and get up about 11am~12noon (on weekends ;)) halevan 23-06-2003, 16:28 I need lots of sleep, going to bed between 2200 hrs. and 2300 hrs. each night, I get up between 0600 hrs. and 0700 hrs. but sometimes wake at 0400 hrs. I am tired all the time and just like that woman on TV. who is more tired when she gets up than when she goes to bed. I am falling asleep all day and some times I am so exhausted that I havent even got the energy to speak. I have seen specialists at Hallamshire hospital and one said to me and I quote, ( in all my years as a doctor I have treat people with terminal diseases but no one has ever said that to me before. ) unquote. halevan 23-06-2003, 16:31 what do you think to that then? Phanerothyme 23-06-2003, 17:16 Originally posted by Mo I need about seven hours to function normally but I rarely get more than 3 or 4. Only side effect I've noticed is a dry mouth on waking. This is related to the hop pillow you've tried, as they are different species of the same genus (cannabinacae). ([edit: get people to PM you] - min order £50 or so i'm afraid)... I can function on about 5 a night (hours sleep that is), but 7 or 8 is definitely better. However parenthood put paid to that, unless I want to go to bed at 9:30pm every night. I've removed the link and added some instructions, the site certainly looks suspect with no contact details apart from an email address. Phanerothyme 23-06-2003, 18:28 oops, thoughtless, sorry. marie1951 23-06-2003, 21:30 green tea helps you to sleep try that BAZZO 27-06-2003, 19:40 On behalf of other Narcolepsy Sufferers I w i s h to say......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Lickszz 28-06-2003, 04:26 I don't like sleeping and find myself sleeping irregular hours. I have as little sleep as I can manage on. Mo 28-06-2003, 18:14 Originally posted by marie1951 green tea helps you to sleep try that Is this a herb of some type? Where would I buy it? Lou 01-07-2003, 07:31 I love sleeping and I like to get about 8 hours a night. Any less than that and I can be a right space cadet the next day... DaBouncer 01-07-2003, 08:24 I love to sleep too! Although I have breathing problems (sinus blockage, congestion) ever since I was a nippa so it brevents me from getting a full nights sleep! I can wake up 3-5 times a night needing a drink or the loo cos I sleep with my mouth open and get dry mouth syndrome! It's a curese believe me! halevan 01-07-2003, 10:12 I know exactly what you mean DB. prostate trouble gets me out sometimes every hour, blocked nose, wake up with a dry mouth, keep plenty of water beside bed, in and out all night, next day exhausted. Miss_60 01-07-2003, 10:17 .......If I don't sleep for at least 9 hours I get headaches and get really really grumpy! kittykat 01-07-2003, 10:38 The average amount that people sleep is 7-71/2 hours per night, even in the Arctic where its light all night. You cant get anything seriously wrong with you even if you go without sleep for days (as a-level psychology states - this and much much more boring stuff) i need about 9 hours or ill nap during the day which is not nice cos i wake up with a headache and i hate missing chunks of the day. |
