We've got rid of Sky TV so I can't watch it at home. Does anyone know any pubs that'll be showing Celtic-Rangers? Kicks off at at 12.30 but there's Liverpool v Spurs on at the same time so I'm guessing most pubs will show that instead. Plus its on Setanta Sports and I've not come across any pubs that have that..

Anyone know of anywhere showing it? Ta.

You're on about the Dog and Partridge, which is down the road from the Grapes. As I asked the OP, who do you follow? Walking into the D&P in full Orange Order regalia and with Union Flags everywhere is likely to cause offence. Don't forget the emotions in Old Firm matches run very high indeed.

Rangers fans may as well stay home, as they'll get beat anyway :)

Happyhippy I'm a Rangers man but more than happy to pretend otherwise for the day if the Dog & Partridge are showing the game. We probably will get beat anyway. I'll get their number from the Yellow Pages and ring them on the morning of the game.

You are not a true Gers supporter if you are prepared to do that and have that attitude about the result:( Didn't you see that Liverpool supporter sitting in a crowd of Everton supporters on Match of the Day last week? That's loyalty. Can't figure why Rugby fans can mix in with each other and football supporters can't.
By the way I once walked to the train station from Parkhead wearing my Rangers colours after Rangers won and encountered no bother.

'Cause there's plenty of violence on the pitch in Rugby :)

Doesn't matter which side you support; if you follow Celtic or Rangers you're a bigot.

Why would I be jesting. Are you not aware of the historical reasons for the formation of the two clubs and their connections with their Irish cousins?

Yes i am...

"Celtic Football Club was formally constituted at a meeting in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church hall on East Rose Street (now Forbes Street), Calton, Glasgow, by an Irish Marist monk named Brother Walfrid original from County Sligo on 6 November 1887.

The charity established by Brother Walfrid was named The Poor Children's Dinner Table. Walfrid's move to establish the club as a means of fund raising was largely inspired by the example of Hibernian F.C. who were formed out of the immigrant Irish population a few years earlier in Edinburgh.

On 28 May 1888, Celtic played their first official match against Rangers and won 5-2 in what was described as a "friendly encounter". Celtic had 8 'guest' players from Hibernian playing that day"

But the year is 2006 - most people try to not associate with the whole Billy and Tim, Hun type of thing. I like Celtic because as a girl my dad took me to watch them, i grew up with them, im not catholic and have never hated a rangers fan because of the team they support... so please, don't call me a bigot!!!!

You're a braver man than I! To be fair though most of the trouble is in the towns and city the night of the match, I don't think you get much bother at the matches. I hear Hearts-Hibs is pretty bad, can't say I've ever been though.

They say "Ignorance is bliss". In your case I say "Ignorance is no excuse for contempt". I believe you owe Sarah 1982 an apology.

Decent match, shame about the result though. Celtic look a good team this year, especially now McManus and Caldwell have sorted themselves out and keeping Big Bobo out of the side.

How about the Scotland games on the 7th and 11th of this month... anyone know of any social clubs, pubs etc that'll be showing them?

that is a pile of cr@p
i am a celtic fan and my partner is a rangers fan (as are his family)
i have friends who support both sides and when we're all together we dont try to kill each other or insult each others backgrounds and/or beliefs.
believe it or not, some football fans have evolved enough to realise that a game of football is just that....
and yes, there are some idiots out there who like to use football and religion as a weapon to attack others with but dont paint all old firm fans with the same brush....is that not a biggoted view?

It is absolutely, but in the same way as I'd prefer to watch a United v Wednesday match in the company of Blades, I'd rather watch a Bhoys v Gers with Bhoys and Ghirls.

Struggling for you to be honest, but I've not checked the times of matches. Ireland's easier to find for matches .........

We (Celtic) look ok, but the Jambo's look formidable when they get their own way. They seem to sulk when they don't. Gers look ok too to be fair, but I honestly think you lack real depth (like we did for most of the years when you equalled the 9 in a row). Ibrox scares the smaller teams senseless in the same way Paradise has helped us though, so you'll still be in Europe, whatever happens.

Good luck to Scotland by the way!

The Jambos are looking solid but I can't decide whether the Romanov influence is a good thing (keeps all the squad on their toes) or a bad thing for consistency, morale etc. I think if/when Le Guen decides on his best 11 and keeps with them Rangers should wrap up 2nd. Its a bit heartbreaking to see St. Mirren above us ! :(

I'll see your St. Mirren above you, and raise a whopping being beaten by Raith Rovers in a League Cup Final :(

I can't decide whether the Romanov thing is a good thing either. It has meant that there is another realistic and sustained challenger for the title and/or cups to the Old Firm, but with Scotland being so centralised in population, how many local kids with real skill in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas will have no club to take them on?

Livingston are barely surviving (still think the table would look better if it said Meadowbank/Ferranti Thistle instead), and beyond that, the top flight is heavily West Central Scotland. It really looks to me Dunfermline, or part time and/or bust (kids wise), if they can't get to Hi-Bees or the Jambos.

On the other hand, a realistic challenger to the Old Firm could be a good thing for Scottish football, for others wanting to put cash into it.

Two narrow wins for us both today, eh?

There's Aberdeen and Dundee Utd as well. Good point about young players in Scotland though, our training facilities need to improve a LOT I think. 1-0 for Rangers and Celtic and 4-0 for Hearts says it all. I think its a good thing for Scottish football that Hearts are becoming a force, the extra competition will do the OF (and Scottish football in general) the world of good.

I was just thinking that Dundee and Aberdeen are too far away for kids from Edinburgh, though I would hope that Hearts are investing in a proper youth policy instead of just buying from abroad with the cash Romanov has brought to Tynecastle. And I'm 100% behind your last sentence.

If I can find somewhere showing the Scotland games, I'll post it.

There are a couple of live feeds on the net for the Scotland match - google "sopcast" and you should be able to get it from there. The commentary might be in Chinese, but you'll (hopefully) be able to see it.

Can't find the Ireland match anywhere though .........

Cheers for that happy hippy.

I asked at the Dog & Partridge today and apparently Ireland game isn't on British TV. Its on RTE though so if the Irish Centre is decoding that they might have it...

I phoned Champs on Ecclesall Rd, they have 46 or something TVs and they said one of them would be showing Scotland because tis on Sky Sports 1. Only did this at half time tho so I'm listening on the radio atm :-S

Great result for you guys - the least said the better about my lads. Stan has to go. That was a totally unacceptable performance. Watched quite a lot of your game online, and France swarmed forward and had umpteen chances, but it means bugger all if you don't take them.

Well done Scotland!

Don't know about Stan, Me thinks Paddy Kenny has seen his day. Usual "flop " to one side for penalty and a few costly mistakes. I don't think he cuts it for Blades anymore and wouldn't be surprised if he is replaced in January transfer window.
Thanks for good wishes to Scotland, wish I could return the favour. Hopefully on Wed.

Cheers floyd77, will have a look up there some time. Saw the Ireland game on MOTD, Paddy Kenny had a shocker (again), awful defending from Ireland, they really need to work in training.
