Hi, first of all I'm not a member of your group, but I would like to ask a question if thats OK? Years ago I made numerous items (crochet) with a pattern called Cathedral windows- I lost the pattern. Would anyone have this pattern and could copy it for me- I would be most grateful. I have tried copying from the one item I had left, a cushion cover, but it was too well washed. It is a quite intricate pattern but truly worth the effort. Thanks for reading my message. Mary.

Hiya,

Sorry I can't help personally with the pattern, but I have just googled 'Cathedral windows crochet' and it comes up with quite alot of interesting sites, including quite a few free patterns, Maybe one of those it what your looking for :)

I wish I could crochet - I just end up with a lump of knots and a large frown

Hi nanrobbo  ,

I'll have a search to see what I can find. I'm only just learning crochet myself, so I'm not too familiar with the various patterns available. I associate the Cathedral Window design with quiliting patterns. I'd be interested to see if there are any similarties.

The knitting group is open to anyone on the Sheffield Forum who has an interest in knitting, crochet or the textile arts and crafts in general; there's no membership or joining involved. Feel free to jump in whenever you like :) .

I've had a search and I can find two types of cathedral window crochet pattern.

The first type is one which makes a square or rectangular-type pattern:

Link 2 (http://www.crochetnmore.com/cathedralwindowsbookmark.htm)

The second type looks a bit more like the circular rose window type:

There's also a leaflet for this (http://thecrochetdude.blogspot.com/2005/06/cathedral-rose-window-afghan-photo.html) pattern: Award-Winning Afghans, leaflet #87830, published by Annie's Attic in 1996. Unfortunately, it's out of print but apparently it does pop up on Ebay from time to time.

Hope some of this is of use :) .

Thanks Hecate- checked 'em out, the closest would be the last one by Annie's Attic. I'm quite annoyed with myself because I've almost worked out the original Cathedral Windows- just can't get the last few rows (squaring off). BUT I am a stubborn old bird and will get it eventually. ;) Mary
