I'm inclined to disagree with this with some cats. I've got a couple who definitely believe I'm their slave, but then I've also got a couple who I'm sure think rather more like dogs (you're my favourite person, you are- I'd sit and snuggle you all day and look lovingly into your eyes if I could, and I'm prepared to make myself look silly and/or desperate to do it!).
