Has anyone noticed the electric pylons on Green moor near Stocksbridge over looking the bypass.
There are a number of the metal monsters that go all the way up the moor.
Nothing unusual about that apart from one that is painted yellow.
This is the first i have seen in this colour, and wondered if they had plans to paint them all or for some strange reason just the one.

There was a film made in Sheffield about a group of lad painting electric pylons. I don't know what colour it was but it could be something to do with it. I believe the film was release at the same time as Starwars I (the new one) but I cannot recall the name of the film. It was on TV within the last 6 month but I only caught the last 5 mins of it.

All this info could be rubbish.

Nope, definately Pylons.
I,m not sure if it can be seen from the bypass but i saw it looking down from Green Moor.

Is it anything to do with them being more easily seen by low flying birds?

I saw a local news report a while back saying that migrating birds were flying into pylons and causing power outages (and sadly getting roasted in the process). The power companies responded by adding those orange balls to prevent this.

Maybe the colouring is the next step

It could well be the pylon that was used in the filming.

Do you know when it was painted Yellow? If it around 1998-1999 then it is a good chance that the pylon.

Maybe this is a new, replacement pylon and what you can see is it's undercoat. You may find that it will soon be painted in its normal grey colour:banana:

Some more info on the film Among Giants. I think the pylon used was somewhere near Rochdale.

Hi
I live in Penistone just over the hill from Stocksbridge. Most of the pylons in this area have been repainted in the last few months and what you're seeing is just the undercoat. In a few weeks time they will all be back to boring grey.
