as per boosh, a bit of a way out, but the Scotsmans Pack in Hathersage is lovely. it's a bit further down the hill from the millstone, near the church

May I venture The Forum cafe bar on Devonshire Street?

Especially from about 1pm to about 6pm on a Sunday because they have a nice vibe with nice DJs spinning lovely downtempo choons, along with deep sofas, Sunday papers and everything you've wanted from a Sunday afternoon.

Oh and the foods nice as well. (Does this sound a little less than impartial?) See sig below ;-)

Hey! Thanks for that info :)
May well try there, Devonshire St after all is one of the best streets in Sheffield!

The miner's arms is really good on warren lane, chapletown, its under new management and, i thought the atmosphere was great and the fish is excellent, not many pubs have fresh fish daily

If you like Carveries, the Fairway at Birley's OK (I just don't like carveries so it's not good for me) and not too expensive.

May be a way out but I can highly recommend the Black Lion at Firbeck (near Dinnington).

Nice pub in a nice little village

The Peacock is fab - just keep going down Abbeydale Road until you get there. Really nice food and very cosy on a winter day!

Went to the Peacock today; hadn't been for a couple of years. Still as popular. Had a great main course, there was a really good choice and the roast for the meat eaters looked good. My starter was the worst thing I have ever experienced. A mushroom basket...filo (meaning fine/thin) burnt on the outside, raw in the middle! How? The plate decorated with a whole bad of dodgy leaves. Not good. But it was all forgiven for the great main course.

A 22 minute drive from Hunters Bar, so not too much of a trek.

Keep the town centre recommendations coming as I could do with somewhere closer to home.

Any news on the Fulwood Inn. Has it got its act together. Great venue but the food is rarely good; in my fussy opinion.

Ended up having a few cocktails in the Lion's Lair (for the last time by the sounds of things :( ), a pint or two in Wetherspoons and then an excellent tea in Ask. Superb service. :)
