Is anyone interested. Does anyone want to play? There is an American football league in this country and although not as big as it was it still does well for itself...
The nearest team is doncaster mustangs but sheffield lacks representaion in the brittish senior league (BSL)! The city has two large university teams who do well for themselves in the university league (BCAFL) and people are considering setting up a sheffield team? Who would be interested?

For details on the sport visit www.gridironuk.co.uk or for the doncaster team www.doncastermustangs.co.uk

The two uni teams are at www.sheffieldsabres.com (uni) and www.shuwarriors.com (hallam)

I had some contact with the Mustangs but it sort of dwindled off. If someone set up a Sheffield team I'd be there in a second, as long as I get to play TE, hehe.

I'm expecting my beloved New England Patriots to repeat the superbowl championship this year. Any takers? One good thing about being over here, we get to watch it live at a decent hour!

Panthers will win it this year, they're still building. :)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Vikings this year.

The old guard are falling on hard times. Dallas, 49ers. Giants, Steelers, and Dolphins just ain't what they used to be. Maybe the Panthers have a chance, they didn't look bad last year. I still have a sneaking regard for Green Bay and always have had.

The Panthers were robbed last season! I do think Armstead and Short will be important, like they were at the Giants. It'll be interesting to see the result of the game against the patriots on the 28th...

Green Bay always have a chance of winning NFC North so they're always a good playoff candidate. I can't help but think that if the Vikes have finally got the defence they need in place this year, then Culpepper and Moss can take them all the way.

One thing we can be sure of, the dolphins will not be having a great season. Its been one setback after another for them.

Glad to see there is still a lot of interest in the city, since my last visit in 1989. My nephew, an ardent 49ers fan, was very pleased with a t shirt I brought him from San Fran with britannia wearing a 49ers helmet. It came from the Britannia Arms pub in Cupertino,California.

It would be good to keep this one going now that the season is nearly upon us. I can't wait. Some of the pubs over here have their own club favorites, the one down our street is the Steeler's fan club, and across the river is Dolphin's territory. Naturally I go to the Pat's pub to celebrate the repeat next year nice and early!

If you don't know the repeat of what you don't know football.

Tom Brady? I think he has enough MVP's now. Can't lie, he'd be good to have aboard. 32-29 though, it was close. The better team won, but we're a new team still, gotta grow. Just hope we can keep it up this year. Sadly i won't be in my beloved 'Sidelines' (Sports bar) until xmas to watch the games.

Snook, it was the best Superbowl in a very long time. The Panthers organization has done a great job, and I think a Superbowl is imminent. I'd like to see the same two opponents. If we don't make it, I wouldn't mind them doing it.

Best of luck for the next season... like i said, looking forward to the pre-season game against the patriots, should be interesting to see how the two teams are doing now. Our game against Green Bay will be a good one too, i think they have a chance this season.

Do you get to see the games the same day, or do you have to wait a week like you used to. I'd like to know cos I would hate to divulge a score and spoil the game for you. I avoid reading FA results, because we get your games later in the week. Is Wednesday ever going to fight back into premiership. I left the city, then look what happened to them. It's all my fault!

When i'm here i check the scores online anyway, i'm not patient. I catch what i can on sky.

Wednesday are actually in division one now... and they did nothing... go figure.

Hi Snook, Stellar performance by the panthers against the giants in preseason. patriots beaten 31 to 3 by the bengals of all people. Things not looking good in New England, maybe better in old England. We might hire a certain George Dubya Bush as a wide receiver when he becomes unemployed in November. He's slippery enough to be one. Born in Connecticut, educated at Yale to our eternal shame he qualifies as a New Englander.

patriots at panthers last night in exhibition. Final score 20 to 17 in favour of North Carolina. Vinaterri missed a 56yard field goal attempt in the last minute which would have tied it

I'm asking more for my husband than for myself, but where does one watch American Football here. Can you get it on cable, or at the pubs. We just moved here from the U.S. and it really won't feel like Fall without a little football to watch. Also, my husband is a crazy Dallas fan and it would really cheer him up to know he could watch some of the games.

Any place to watch Baseball here?

Thanks for any help!!

Patriots beat Indy Colts last night again 29-23 despite a porous rush defense in the first half. Brady continues the best young QB in the game. Bring on those Panthers!!!

The Packers always look good, until it counts, and then they mess it up and it all goes wrong!!

GO REDSKINS

We hope for a better season now they have a new coach. Well, old coach that came back. Mr. Funke is a die hard fan. He is from Virginia and lived in Washington DC for most of his teen years.
I have the hat, tee shirt and the huge fuzzy number 1 finger. He makes me wear it too.

And we don't want to see any tears from Brett Favre this season. He is such a cry baby. Nice bum though.

Funke You're worse than my wife more interested in bums than TDs! Liked the redskins with John Riggens but thats a long time ago. Virginia is a lovely state, almost as nice as Connecticut. Best regards

I am in a pool with $70.00 in the pot. I pick my winners by choosing team players that I like, colors, cities etc. I always pick the New York teams. Don't know why? I used to like Vinnie Testeverde and Jason Seahorn. I usually pick New Orleans, Miami and San Francisco too. Also Pittsburgh cos they are the Steelers and from a steel city like Sheffield. My dad's favourite team.
Mr Funke used to talk me out of picking certain teams and then damn it they would win. So he quit telling me what to do. Last season I won about 3 times. The guys used to get annoyed that I won cos I had no clue and they hated losing to a woman, especially an English one. I read the stats in the paper and either pick all the home teams or I just pick favourites. There is no inside scoop to my selections. I do like Brad Favre but I can't go with Vinnie now as he has gone to the dark side. It is not in my nature to go with Dallas. I didn't like them even before I met Mr Funke. Redskins and Dallas are arch enemies. I did vote for NE Patriots on Thursday so I'm one up already. I'd better go now and get the beer and chips ready for tomorrow

I always liked the Steelers. There's a bar in town totally dedicated to them, and folks come from miles around when they play. I always had regard for the Packers, they were Lombardi's team, and are owned by the City of Green Bay. They have a terrific reputation for their interaction with the kids of the city. That is a lot better than you can say about Dallas
