View Full Version : Best takeaway in sheff
shabba 18-09-2006, 01:18 PM Been to a lot of takeaways round sheff, and i would say just halal kebabs on the wicker is one of the best as they specialise in just kebabs as most other takeaways dont specialise in anything they sell everything from chips to pizzas to curries.
The place also looks smart, it looks more like a classy cafe than a takeaway.
The food is excellent, have you guys tried it???
shabba 07-10-2006, 01:44 PM has any1 tried it?
neeeeeeeeeek 07-10-2006, 01:45 PM Yep, ever went back. Do you still use crappy pitta's like the ones that come in packs from the supermarket? That's what put me off.
KJ_VENOM 07-10-2006, 03:20 PM murdocs on division is the tops their kebabs arnt the normal elephant willy on the skewer its proper lamb and beautiful they do a mixed kebab that comes with chicken breast and chips for £4.90

PlanB 10-10-2006, 12:27 AM I would suggest Elifs on Eccy Road - all their kebabs are cooked over coals on skewers. Lovely stuff!

Randy Savage 10-10-2006, 06:25 PM Oasis Kebabs in Broomhill...
Their chicken bab is fab!
Loads of juicy chicken breast etc..
As for Just Halal Kebabs... place always looks dead when I drive past it in need of a spice fix... Normally pop into Imrans ;-)
Kebabish on Wicker - the one on the left near the Big Gun - they don't have yoghurt, only mayo... what's that all about!?

Hoof_Hearted 02-11-2006, 03:24 PM Very impressed with Yummy Hut, on Eccleshall Road next to the Hunters Bar roundabout.
If you can understand the guy behind the bar it's definately worth a chicken kebab after a long night!
homyachok 04-11-2006, 12:37 AM So I guess your still using crap packet nan breads!
jeeze at first i thought u were just being funny, but hey maybe ur right...the guy does own just halal.....:D
Kebabishi is quite good for their curries or kebabs. It reminds of the ones I used to get in Manchester as a student. Their curries have a better taste than some of the ones serves in a curry house !
Well, you wouldn't eat it every day. Once in a while is okay. Curries after a night out is almost an institution. *thumbs up*

I've still not found a curry place on the curry mile thats better than the mangla on spital hill. I'm beginning to lose hope!
Wilf
lol. Grr... you gotta mention that name.
I've yet to try that place. I will make it one day. Grr....
Mangla, here I come ! :D

I've been going over 8 years now!
I remember when it used to be just a takeaway down the road. We asked if we could eat in there and they made us welcome in the room next door, sat next to a step ladder and a broken electric heater.
I guess some people don't liek the mangla because they say it is like a transport cafe but I remember it from its roots so my viewpoint is totally different.
I don't care about the decor or whether we have ornate paper swans and trays of condiments to have with my poppadoms. I care about the FOOD and the PRICE. for both, Mangla just can't be beaten in Sheffield.
Wilf
Well, to me it doesn't really matter. I care about the food a lot more. I don't care for the decor. If I was to change careers, I would want to be the food critic for Sheffield Star ! (Ok, a few good ones recommendations, but then it went downhill.)
I've lived here a long time and never really heard people recommended it. Then again, I know the majority of people are not into the quality, then they are into the quantity. So I am really curious about this place.
