View Full Version : What Is your funniest TV moment?
miniminch 24-07-2004, 19:20 I like comedy but rarely laugh out loud when I'm watching a programme. The only two occasions where this has happened are: 1. Eddie Izzard as Darth Vader in the Deathstar Canteen.
2. When they cut to Ricky Gervais singing If you Don't Know Me by now on The Office Christmas Special, when he releases the dove. Both occasions I spat out me tea with laughter. What are your real soil-yourself-funny moments?:P :P :P :P :P

Spot on about The Office. I'd say thats probably the funniest series i've ever seen,Ricky Gervais is a genius.
I know this is a obvious one,but when del-boy went to lean against the bar in Only Fools & Horses,i did lol at that.

Completely agree with both comments. The OF&H one was pure comic genius
Plain Talker 25-07-2004, 11:32 I have to agree with Mr Craig;
The "Only Fools and Horses" episode where Del-boy falls through the open bar-hatch is about the funniest thing I ever saw.
I also Liked Porridge, generally as a comedy, and Open All Hours.
Hmm... she muses... spot the link?
Yes! David Jason! He appeared in all three! He is one of the finest actors, Straight and comedic, we have ever been privileged to see in a show.
The added benefit for me is his co-star in the last two shows; Ronnie Barker, who is also an excellent comic, with excellent timing.
I really like David Jason as an actor, I find him totally believeable as the character he plays, no matter which show he is in. He is convincing as Del-boy, Ger-Ger-Ger-Granville, or Jack Frost.
I also enjoyed the two semi-autobiographical dramas he wrote, "the Quest" and "the Quest 2", although there was a little more focus on the younger actor who played the young Jason's character in the drama.

Plain Talker 25-07-2004, 11:36 just to add...
I am old enough to remember the early (still transmitting in Black-and-white!!) Blue Peter edition with the elephant, which poohed and wee'ed in the studio, and proceeded to "dance" all over John Noakes' feet.
That was an absolute Pearler of an event!
That was a fantastically funny TV moment
P "Oochh! Gerroff Me Foot!" T
Robbie Loving 25-07-2004, 16:47 2 stick out in my mind really..........
Phoenix nights where they have the pyschic in.......
he goes round the crown insulting people etc, when he walks up to a big bald man and goes
"im getting the word..................... NONCE"
absolutely hillarious
second one has to be when the simpsons buy a camper van, homer and bart are in the woods tryna find civilisation after getting lost and the van blowing up........
bart says he is hungry, so homer proceeds to tie a tree down to try and capture some food for him.
along hops a rabbit and falls for the bait and jumps on to the tree..... homer is there getting excited, when the tree flips the rabbit about 2 miles in to the distance...... no sound just flies in to the distance
i laughed at it for about 20 minutes
Basil Fawlty's reaction to the deaf woman's complaint about the view from her hotel window.. pure class that makes me laugh despite seeing it a million times
Morcombe & Wise breakfast striptease routine
Kenny's lies on Phoenix Nights
Gareth giving the new girl a Health & Safety lesson on The Office
alchresearch 26-07-2004, 18:59 The bit on Phoenix Nights Series 2 when Gerry is singing in Asda!
"Come and get your black bin bags, whatever your gender -
Heavy duty black bin bags, whether bi or straight or bender"!
I can't listen to the original songs now without thinking of bin bags or corned beef!
The 2 Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps musical episode.. Not just a moment, the whole episode is a comedy masterpiece IMO.
Especially the biscuit song.
I'd say the first half of the Germans episode of Fawlty Towers, where he answers the phone and uses it to break the fire alarm. I was crying with laughter.
Plenty of Fawlty Towers ones.. I watched the Episode where he thinks they got a swinging family staying in the hotel and throws them out, only to realise he's made a mistake, and his reaction to Sybils advice..
' Marvellous, Is that what made Britain Great? Im sooooo Sorry I made a mistake '
Only Fools and Horses one.. The episode where they do the Booze run to France and get back with an Illegal..
Denzil : For all we know he could be a member of Al Qaeda!
Delboy : Honestly Denzil, does he look like he works in a
furniture store ?
Peter Kay live in Bolton Hall, was all laughter through out!!!
nearly had tears rolling down cheeks  :D
Lickable 27-07-2004, 08:26 Alan Partridge and the Farmers.
Many many parts of Family Guy.
and many part of Teachers, a show which i can sit back and relax (without falling asleep) and laugh out loud from time to time.
The Day to Day interval graphic sequences.
he-man, with the endings about right and wrongs.
Thankyou, alchresearch i cant get the black bin bag song out of my head now.
Funniest ever, David Brent waiting in pub for his latest blind date, hes already been moaning about the quality of the ladies! sent to meet him when in walks a big girl, he looks straight into camera and mouths "oh for f***s sake".
jackthedog 27-07-2004, 10:56 Brass eye, as it cut to the advert break after interviewing Peter Stringfellow.
countless countless 'The Office' moments
so good i said it twice!
npatchett 27-07-2004, 12:49 An episode of the Kenny Everit show where he's walking down a corridor at BBC and bumps into Terry Wogan, Terry is off to see the B.U.M. (broadcasting under management) and Kenny warns him not go in there, they argue over why he shouldn't. Terry opens the door and a giant bum is in the doorway, farts and blows Terry through the wall.
I laughed at that for ages. Only ever seen it once :(
dylan_61 27-07-2004, 15:56 South Park Episode 'Scott Tennison Must Die' where Cartman eats Scott's pubes before telling him how he made him eat his parents, then licks the tears off his face to taste his pain
Cartman:
Nyahnyahnyahnyah nyah nyah! I made you eat your parents! Nyahnyahnyahnyah nyah nyah
Cartman:
[walks over to Scott's end of the table] Yes! Yesss!! Oh, let me taste your tears, Scott! [starts licking Scott's tears off his face] Mm, your tears are so yummy and sweet.
Cartman:
Oh, the tears of unfathomable sadness! My-ymmuy. [licks the tears off the table and off Scott's face.] Mm-yummy you guys!
Plain Talker 28-07-2004, 19:48 another classic from the funny animal moments....
has to be .....
Richard whiteley, on Calendar, about 20/25 yrs ago when that bl**dy ferret had hold of his thumb!
so funny!

uncleheed 29-07-2004, 12:33 Plenty of phoenix nights moments. But the one that has me giggling like a school kid:
"GET BACK YA *******,I'LL BREAK YOUR LEGS"
coopster1974 08-08-2004, 03:07 Phoenix nights again.
When the dwarves get off the minibus
"How far away are they?"
Quality!
StarSparkle 18-08-2004, 13:07 For me, the funniest sketches without a doubt involved Kenny Everett's character Reg Prescott, tv DIY instructor. Each week several horrendous accidents would befall Reg - he'd manage to cut a finger off or or he'd saw through the table AND his leg, etc. He was completely inept at DIY, but always bravely re-appeared after injury, often with a bandage round his head, to inform his public what he'd be attempting the next week!
I'd sit there crying with laughter! I think it was his always look-on-the-bright-side attitude that did it!
Or maybe DIY is just a funny subject - my favourite "Married with Children" episode involves Al Bundy trying to put a Work-Mate bench together .....
In fact, any MWC episode could qualify as a funniest tv moment .....
StarSparkle
on Ab Fab...Edina said..'Inside of me there is a thin person trying to get out...!'
Her mom said...''...Just the one dear..'
He He He
plenty of the monty python sketches.
the first time I saw the parrot sketch goes down as one of my funniest TV moments.
More recently most of the simpsons episodes can make me laugh at least once.
alchresearch 18-08-2004, 21:57 Family Guy is one of the funniest cartoons around, far wittier than the Simpsons.
There's one episode where the lead character, Peter Griffin, is being shouted at by his wife Lois:
Lois: "Peter you are so childish"
Peter: "well if I'm childish, what does that make you? A paedophile. And I'm damned if I'm going to stand here and be lectured to by a pervert!"
Miss_smiley 19-08-2004, 14:30 Del boy at the bar gets my vote. It still gets me laughing even though I have seen it so many times.
The Office cracked me up so many times I cant decide on a single funny scene.
Oh I almost forgot, just about anytime Billy Connolly talks on TV I laugh myself silly. He is the funniest bloke in the world.
ToryCynic 21-08-2004, 11:57 The Office: Keith reviewing his progress, IIRC.
Starts to discuss form.
Keith answers Don't Know on every question.
Brent: If 'don't know' wasn't on the form, what would you put ?
Keith: "don't know"!! :D
Alex
One of many tv moments is:
Ozzy osbourne in full rant stomps out of a room into another. In the background you just see him sit down in a chair and fall backwards while Sharon just looks on.
misstook2 21-08-2004, 17:44 the chandalier only fools & horses....."brace yourself Rodney"!!!
Morecame & Wise...Eric stood at the window peeping through the curtains, you hear an ambulance go flying past with the siren on......Eric says "he wont sell many ice creams going at that speed"..............still tickles me.
uncleheed 22-08-2004, 18:40 Reading about morcombe and wise reminds me of the sketch when they are cooking breakfast to the tune of 'The Stripper'.
The bit with the grapefuits is a classic.
Also The Two Ronnies and the 'Fork Handles' sketch.
Eddie Izzard
Peter Kay
Billy Connelly
In that order . . . . need I say more . . .
Argh I'm covered in bees!!! (laughed for days!!) :D
StarSparkle 06-09-2004, 14:01 I've just remembered my absolutely no.1 funniest tv moment - it's the "Father Ted" episode where Ted and Dougal try to write a song for the Irish entry in the Song for Europe ......
D and T start off very enthusiastic and positive with a guitar and keyboards - close-up of a clock on teh wall whirring round - several hours of the creative process later, the room looks like a tornado has hit it, the air's thick with cig smoke, and Ted stands there going "just play the f-----g note!" at a gormless-looking Dougal.
I laughed till my stomach hurt the first time I watched this - it reminded me in a small way of my own tribulations when trying to write essays at university!
StarSparkle
PS I also love the scene where T and D have finally written a "song" and perform it in front of Father Jack and Mrs Doyle. At the end Ted puts down his guitar and says "what did you think?". Jack produces a shotgun and blasts the guitar! Classic!

MY LOVELY HORSE
'My lovely horse,
running through the fields
Where are you going with your fetlocks blowing in the wind'
'I want to shower you with sugar lumps
And ride you over fences
Polish your hooves every day
And bring you to the horse dentist.
My lovely horse
You're a pony no more,
running around with a man on your
back, like a train in the night.'
:P:P:P:P sorry was bored.

yeah got to agree. that episode was great. really ****** my pants when i saw it.
I like anything with Peter Kay in it, can`t watch his dvd`s enough.
andy1702 08-09-2004, 19:20 For me there are two. One from TV, one from a movie shown on TV many times.
The TV one is in the pilot episode of Friends. Rachel has been dumped at the alter by Barry, who is sensitive about his hair implants. Barry meanwhile has run off with a silicone barbie-type.
Right at the very end of the episode Rachel is on the phone to Barry. "and if you ever have kids..." she tells him "....I hope they have your old hair-line and her old nose!"
The other one (and this just HAS to be a classicweather or not you've seen the entire film) is Meg Ryan eating lunch in When Harry Met Sally. If you don't know what I'm talking about, rent the DVD. If you do, you've probably just fallen off the chair with laughter at the thought of it;)
threecolours 08-09-2004, 19:34 Any episode of 'spaced' - very funny and got a cute dog (just can't remember its name?) - if you've not seen it go and buy it!
When the presenters announced the Blue Peter garden had been vandalised.

Couldn't agree more, THE finest television moment in history - Janet singing 'just don't come near me with nob cheese'. Laugh? I needed surgery. :hihi:
WallBuilder 15-12-2004, 23:21 John Cleese as Basil attacking his wifes car with a branch when it breaks down.
Also many times in Steptoe and Son it may of been in black and white in it's early years but the humour is timeless.
