Sounds like just a bit of harmless fun if it happens.

NO seriously, I hope these aren't the same weapons of mass distruction that Sadam and Iraq had.

Spent the last 3 years seaching for weapons, and not found even a water pistol.

The good news is, now Sadam's gone, Iraq is a safer place (if you don't count the daily bombings)

There's no need for there to be a World War 3. We just need to get rid of the warmongering American Neo-Conservatives and their British sidekick.

We all need to be less gullible as well.

Who can forget the 45 minutes scary story a few years back.

And what about Colin Powell holding up the testtube, claiming that this amount of poison (whatever it was) could wipe uot thousands of people.

But the most laughable was the satelite photos of the Lorrys, which were apparently mobile weapons labs.....I think not......more likely, it was some HGV lorry driver having a break in a layby, eating his sandwichs before setting off and finishing his deliverys for the afternoon

cheese and ham, with pickle.... there I go again, wrong thread!

i will re-phrase to make it more 'thread PC' - cheese and ham (iran and ven) - the pickle - rest of the world.

Either that or a possible Cucumber attack....

I remember this too.

"We've found lorries that we believe were mobile chemical weapons factories. There's no sign of any chemical weapons at present"

Errr..... you mean that you've found some empty lorries.

The recent Chatham House report on Iran (http://www.chathamhouse.org.uk/pdf/research/mep/Iran0806.pdf) is well worth a read. It seems that Ahmadinejad, with his chiliastic faith in the re-emergence of the Hidden Imam and such, is just as much of a dangerous neo-con as Bush. Interestingly, there seem to be more checks and balances on him than there are on Bush - believe it or not, according to the report the Ayatollahs are relatively moderate and realistic as regards international relations (compared to Ahmadinejad). Whereas Bush's advisers seem to be as far out as he is - in fact, if he's as stupid as he appears (which may or may not be true), he may be just a front man for their ideas.

Either way, the situation is dangerous and (again according to the report) a military intervention would probably be disastrous for the region, if not the world. [Though Iran probably is developing nuclear weapons - although Ahmadinejad sometimes says that the nuclear programme is peaceful, if I remember rightly he's also quoted as saying if Israel can have nuclear weapons, then why can't Iran? But it is a while since I read the report.]
