Her name was Mrs Hughes and I believe she taught English. angelamary 28-11-2006, 10:06 yes your mother taught me i,m certain. Rozie 28-11-2006, 20:23 Yes I remember Mrs Hughes. She taught us for English in the first two or three years I was there. That would be about 1963 -66. She was a nice lady. I may still even have a class report written by her! mikeyh 28-11-2006, 22:38 My mother had happy memories of teaching at Jordanthorpe Girls and said it was a pleasure to teach many of the pupils there. She accepted a post at Hurlfield but told me it was a mistake and she should have stayed at Jordanthorpe. artisan 29-11-2006, 00:09 There were three schools in the area, Rowlinson Tech. Jordanthorpe Boys, and down the end of the road, Jordanthorpe Girls. The finishing time at each school was different, I think to stop us lads squaring up to each other. With modern thinking, it is strange that we had boys and girls taught seperatly. But in those days we really did have very little idea of what girls were all about. All that soon changed as soon as we left school and were released from the headmasters iron rule. :hihi: |
