Iv'e been into my local coop this weekend and found, ruddy xmas decorations, cards and wrapping paper. What the heck. It's September. Why is it necessary to bring the stuff out so early. Has anyone else seen xmas bits'n pieces in shops?

There was a thread about it a couple of weeks ago- I saw my first Christmas pudding in the supermarket the last weekend in August. Ridiculous.

But if nobody bought anything Xmas-related until December this year, next year they wouldn't bother putting it all on the shelves until at least November. The retailers are simply giving people what they want. Sad, but true.

My missus says I'm a Scrooge when I moan about hyping up Xmas too early.

I've got 2 kids (5 and 2) and absolutely love Christmas, but it starts so early nowadays. Eeeeeeeee......back in my day it wont like that!!

It's always been like it. I remember going shopping on the weekend of Princess Diana's funeral (start of September 1997), and there were Christmas stuff to buy then......Easter eggs will be in the shops between Xmas and New Year, so that'll be something to work up to ;)

I ****ing hate it. The only part I enjoy is going into all the crappy shops on the moor and asking the shop assistiants if they are sick of the xmas carols that they have had inflicted on then for 8 hours a day.

My thoughts exactly, why do people moan when it happens every year!

Being a TV media expert, all the shopping channels have been having Christmas specials since July, selling decorations and card making kits. For some people, Christmas is the next most exciting thing this year so they will be loving the decorations in the shops. There should be a ban on any adverts or stock before mid November, we come across as a Nation with nothing better to do.

Well I have commenced Xmas shopping! I buy when I see suitable gifts so when it gets to December I can spend all pay packet on me or avoid the shopping hell completely ( apart from Sainsburys)
