Would like to know the 'Fors and Against' using this form of heating a house Thanks Sugar_Kiss 17-09-2006, 09:35 hia, my flats got underfoor heating and its great! 1. theres no radiators, i hate them 2. it gets really nice and warm, which is excellent when youve got tiled kitchen floor 3. you can even lay your cloths on the floor to dry lol KenH 17-09-2006, 10:01 I think underfloor heating is fabulous and can recomend these people for a superb service:- http://www.underfloor.biz/ The thing I would warn against is trying to do it on the cheap, particularly using cheaper materials. The difference between a superb job and a cheap job might only be 10% of the overall cost but will make all the difference. vilink 17-09-2006, 10:19 Thanks for your replies, 'Sugar Kiss' I did not realise you could dry clothes on the floor. Is it more expensive to run than ordinary central heating? Thanks rubydazzler 17-09-2006, 10:23 Does having carpets lessen its effiency? And do you have the same problems as with storage heaters that if there's a sudden cold snap, you don't get the responsiveness of gasfired CH? Or does it warm up instantly you put the heating on? I'm interested because I need to replace my entire ancient heating system and I'm looking at alternatives. Sugar_Kiss 17-09-2006, 10:28 I hace carpets in my bedroom, and my lounge and it gets nice and warm. all my bills go into one, i pay the landlord a set amount a month and i can use as much lecy and heating as i want, which is greaaaat! Thanks lay some towels down on the floor (when its rainy outside) put clothes on top and they dry nicely :P lol KenH 17-09-2006, 11:08 Does having carpets lessen its effiency? . It will work much better if you don't have carpets although it will still work. artisan 17-09-2006, 11:17 Does having carpets lessen its effiency? I have heard that Calder General Services are a good outfit, for general household work. ruthie~ 17-09-2006, 17:45 we have just had an extension and had underfloor heating added at the same time, it is more expensive to install in the first place, but it is far more efficient to run especially if you have room thermostats fitted in each room. last winter we where getting up and turning it down and we did not even have it on at all in the bedrooms, we didn't need it. vilink 18-09-2006, 07:18 Thank you 'ruthie' for that very useful info, and thanks to everyone else who has posted replies. vilink |
