About an hour ago, we were just sat outside the Uni, and there was this strange thing floating in the sky, it was really high up, at first I thought it was a parachute, but it wasn't. It did keep changing shape though, it also looked a bluey colour. It was really high up so we couldn't make it out, but it definitly wasn't a plane or balloon. It was moving across slowly. Then it dissapeared into a cloud and we didn't see it again. Did anyone else see it?

Sounds like a laser light show hitting the clouds.

No, it was definitly an object. It wasn't lights or shadows.

If it was changing shape, it was not a physical object.....

So parachutes, pieces of rubber, bags, clothes, curtains are not physical objects? Hmm I thought they were to be honest.

Believe me, it was an object that was changing shape as it moved across the sky. I was not the only one who saw it.

I have seen similar things on several occasions which I know, for fact, to have been laser lights on the cloud base.

This was no laser. Laser lights that are on the cloud base wouldn't dissapear into the clouds.

Yes I will take a photo next time, I never usually forget my camera when I'm just going for some dinner. What was I thinking?

If they move slowly while changing shape, Possibly.

I think they do get quite high up in the sky, and the stuff they are made from could give the impression they were changing shape.. cant comment on the speed they travel. Prrehaps one of our fourm weather buffs could comment further?

i drove past dixon ford on saville st about 5.30ish when a big bunch of balloons was released possibly about 100 or so all tied together could be what you saw they did head in that direction

Quite possibly, As a big bunch of balloons tied together would be changing shape! I think that's probably it. :)

I saw something a year or so ago near Meadowhall like this... it was pretty high up and almost like a long thin balloon (like those ones people make poodles and stuff out of) but about 100 x bigger... was it like this?

Not really, it was more like a square/circle/triangley thing, it kept changing shape so it's hard to say what shape it actually was. But we now think it was the big bunch of balloons tied together let off from Dixons.
