have just got paperwork through for a teaching INTERVIEW i have with SeSSA. they have said i need a new CRB as an old one isn't acceptable - even tho mine was only done in May so all other supply agencies have accepted it (because they can if it is under a year).

does anyone know if SeSSA pay for your new one or if you have to?? don't really want to register with them but will prob get more work if i do. i won't waste an hour of my time registering with them if i have to pay as my other 2 agencies have been much more relaxed, friendly and approcable then they seem.

How long is a CRB report valid for if they are valid for a year or two then they have to accept it it would be unreasonable to expect you to pay for a new one when you only had one done less than six months ago. the CRB is either valid or not valid check with the CRB on wether they have to accept it

They are only "valid" for the time and purpose of that check/disclosure.

The CRB actually recommends against "portability" and that checks should be redone.

If this is not practicable, they list the risks that accepting an old certificate will entail.

Personally, I would only expect you to get a new CRB check after a successful interview.

P.S. has any1 ever failed a SESSA interview?? it sounds horrible compared to agencies - who say - "it's not really an interview just an informal chat"

Glad they are paying for it, but the checks are, as cgksheff said, only valid at that very moment in time. In theory, you could commit a criminal offence within seconds of the check being done! Really, it's up to the employer as to whether they would accept it, or not.

I believe these CRB checks last for 1 year. They price keeps getting hiked, as it only cost £12 in 2002 for a CRB check

The problem is the more we are forced to have them, the more the price will go up.

I think, we ought to cut back on Police Checks, and its time to hit the real criminals.

I work in healthcare and have had several over the years, never had to pay for one yet. The employer/potential employer has always paid it.

Being a charity and under the guidance of the young peoples directorate we get ours done for free :cool:

Isn't it time to make it hard for the real criminals ( oooooh thats sounded rude :hihi: ), rather than inconveniencing law abiding people with these silly checks.

All the supply agencies I have used have paid for the CRB search. Good luck with sessa. I didnt get much from them, got more from supply desk.
