View Full Version : Good exotics supplies shop needed.
bluesandtwos 15-09-2006, 11:09 We are getting two chameleons in a couple of weeks and would like to ask does anyone recommend a good exotics supplies shop?. currently purchased all my equipment online but need a good supplier of livefood, suppliments etc. We live north of sheffield.
Note: this thread is not for the debate on the ethics of keeping exotics as pets
... but this one is (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=144748)

The one near Attercliffe Post Office is suposed to be good, the lizards and stuff look healthy anyway.
try 'the snake shop' in attercliffe.
I think www.thesnakeshop.co.uk but not sure. There is also another slightly further up the road 'Sheffield exotics' I think it's called.
Snake shop is opposite a pink 'sauna centre' and sheffield exotics is near la chambre.. ;)
There is an online place that supplies live food delivered to your door, I will find out who it was from my partner.
We were a bit wary at first but thought we would give it a try, ordered, came the next day, all live food in tact, a good supply and very good price. Worth a try
Exotic_Pets 15-09-2006, 12:11 Hi, we're an online local Exotic Pet shop. If you need any help or advice e-mail me via our website. Thanks, Karen
I use wildworldsupplies.co.uk or peregrine-livefoods.co.uk for postal livefood
bluesandtwos 15-09-2006, 12:38 EXOTIC-PETS. love the website, do you have a shop too?. On the lookout for a pair of strawberry snowcorns if you come across any mate ;)
bluesandtwos 15-09-2006, 13:55 dafoot, will keep an eye out for day geckos mate, on a fourum or two, so bound to crop up.
bluesandtwos 15-09-2006, 13:59 sorry, I asked for advice, not a lecture.
...i was asking for livefood suppliers not ppl's opinions on keeping exotics!
sure your entitled to your opinion and feel free to give it. but may I suggest you start your own thread on it instead of hijacking mine. :loopy:
beansforyou 18-09-2006, 18:10 Anyhow....
Have you tried www.livefood.co.uk they also have a really good forum :)
one of the most recommended 'real' shops I know of is Snake n Adders (www.snakesnadders.co.uk) in Leeds.
Lovely snakes btw, how old are they?
bluesandtwos 18-09-2006, 18:55 the snowcorn and amylenistic in the photo are three years old :)
beansforyou 18-09-2006, 19:30 They're lovely. I can't wait for mine to grow up a bit more, he's coming up to one in November. Was sold as a Motley Aner, turns out he's ghost motley.
Hope you find what your looking for :)

does any1 know if sheffield exotics has a website?
Yep
Here (http://www.exotic-pets.co.uk)
bluesandtwos 25-09-2006, 23:01 Ive been in them both in the last week. the guy who owns the snake shop is great. knows his stuff and wont sell you things just for the sake of it, well cared for collection of exotics too. Cant say I was as impressed with Sheffield exotics. full of chavs when I went in.
Yep
Here
thats not sheffield exotics, thats exotic pets in chesterfield

Not exactly the fault of the shop! ;)
I prefer the snake shop though...as you said, John does not like to sell to people buying on a whim/dont know what they are getting into.
Last time I was in there he was busy trying to explain to someone why he wouldn't sell a baby python to someone who wanted to buy it as a first snake!
bluesandtwos 26-09-2006, 19:34 Yep, I tend to think you can tell a lot from first impressions of a place, and visited both last week. As you say, john in the snake shop was real approachable and gives loads of info. also offered to sex two snakes for me, even though I bought them from elsewhere. a lot of the livestock in there seem to be either bred by himself or other home breeders, which I like to see rather than WC stock. sure Sheffield exotics is great, but just found it real offputting to walk in and find the place full of teenagers swearing away etc, just gives a bad impression to anyone new. will go back hopefully when its quiet and get a better idea then as they do have a good amphibian section (my next project)

Sorry :loopy:
