and all of it so not needed! How those poor cats are meant to defend themselves should they go out I don't know. Personally I think the dogs looked better without the cropped ears. As for it being illegal over here, how long do you think that will last?

What is this? Do you mean cropping the ears of dobermanns etc?

There was originally a reason for doing this but I can't see any excuse for it now it's worse than docking a tail by far, the pain these poor puppies have to go through by having their ears rolled and rebandaged time after time.

kittenta,

I think it will stay illegal here. In America, dogs are 'debarked' where their voice boxes are removed. Again, another important part of the dog removed.

The Kennel Club has always been to blame for the docking of dogs because certain breeds require a docked tail to be shown. To be fair, this is because a dog is judged on it's capability to carry out the breed purpose and for some breeds, a docked tail is necessary for the job they were originally bred for.

However the Kennel Club are now saying that a docked dog won't be allowed to be shown. Only working dogs can be docked (for instance some spaniels are docked to prevent injury when working) but you won't be able to show a docked dog which will cut down drastically on the amount of docking being done, I suspect.

As for cropped ears, there's no need for it anymore and I believe it's illegal in this country as is declawing and debarking.

I thought declawing was illegal if done for the hek of it, a jack russell we had some years ago kept catching and tearing his dew claws and we were going to have them removed - the vet recomended it

Was this "pet plastic surgery" on C5?
Nearly watched it but thought it would be truly awful...
Looks like I was right!

yes it was pet plastic surgery and i found it very disturbing so i turned it over i watched the rabbit one where it had grown excess fur round his chest and unable to clean himself properly so that was ok but cutting the dogs ears and de-clawing thats not needed poor animals

OH & I were joking about what plastic surgery crazy people could possibly want to inflict on pets...
I've heard of dogs having fake testicle implants after they've been neutered so they still look 'all man' !! How ridiculous!
