Open View is a rolling Film Competition and Festival which platforms Talent from across Europe on ordinary domestic television screens.
Open View is the first film competition of its kind, to broadcast all submitted entries to 42 million households in Europe –via Sky 687.
Open View will provide a unique opportunity not only for independent filmmakers to promote their work throughout Europe but also for distributors, agents and production houses to find fresh, new talent.
Open View is intended to stimulate the latent creativity of European filmmakers by providing a showcase for works which otherwise would not be seen by the film industry.
Open View is intended not only as a competition but also as a film market, running over a number of months. All films will initially be aired on Open Access –Sky 687 throughout Europe to an audience of all interested industry bodies, the general public and other filmmakers.
This new format will allow potential investors in independent film to view films at their convenience from their own living room on a regular basis.
The competition will run through various phases; the first stage will be termed ‘the filmmakers’ forum’ in which the filmmakers are required to judge no more than three films entered by other filmmakers, and which will be scheduled on Open Access at a date of their convenience. The idea of this is to create a forum for genuine peer to peer feedback from other filmmakers.
The competition will also take on a populist vote when it becomes interactive later this year and the public will be able to vote via SMS, email and interactive services.
The overall winners of the competition are determined by a combination of the filmmakers’ and the popular vote.
Regular screenings will be arranged in mainstream cinemas for winners of various competition categories. And the overall winners will also win a theatrical release.
All rights are held in their entirety by the filmmakers and their Co-Producers and most are available for licensing by distributors.
