Previously I have only lived in the S10 (Broomhill) area, and have gotten used to its student charms.

However, I graduated and so I am soon to move into the Headford Gardens estate. It looked great when I checked out the area a few weeks back, but since then I visited to show my folks.

There were gangs of kids on 2 of the corners, which kind of un-nerved me. Plus in reading through this site, there seems to be a marked contrast in opinions!

Many say its a nice area, Many say its one of the worst!

I must say that I am worried. How do those of you who live in, or know the area think of its Saftey?

Well, I've already posted my opinion about this on the below thread:

http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13980

I can only speak for myself - I've lived here since July 1995 and have never had any problems at all. Whether it's less safe or more safe compared to other areas of Sheffield I can only compare to other areas of the city I'vd lived in - Lodge Moor from 91-93 (pretty damn safe, especially in the Nurses Home!) and Shoreham Street from 93-95 (I had no problems but I did know some people who had their cars broken into and houses robbed).

You do see gangs of kids hanging round here but I've never had any trouble from them. They're just a bit noisy and they sometimes give a bit of cheek to people walking past.

If anybody else has had real nightmares around Headford then I'd more than interested in hearing about them, but personally I think it's fine. It may not be the best area in Sheffield, but it's very far from being the worst.

Personally I feel a lot less safe walking down Division Street at midnight on a Friday or Saturday than I do walking round Headford Mews/Gardens!
