Details tba, but likely start point is train station/52 terminus at the top of Furnace Lane  SHsheff 09-09-2006, 01:07 PM Sorry I can't make it this Sunday, but look forward to meeting you and yours some other time Kriss. :) purdyamos 09-09-2006, 08:38 PM Can't do Sunday, unfortunately, I've missed all the plodding this week. :( taxman 10-09-2006, 07:28 PM Thanks to Mr and Mrs Strix who organised this walk. A great time was had by 7 Humans and 4 Dogs and we got to stop for a pint half way round. Nice to meet some new faces as well as familiar ones. Strix 10-09-2006, 09:04 PM Dying to see the photo's!!! Kriss - I've got to see those dragonfly pics ;) We missed the kingfisher due to lack of camera in the right place at the right time, but the weather was fantastic, and we had to find our way round a bit of woodhouse we haven't been through before :D In all, it was probably about 6 miles that the majority of the group managed :) Grissom 10-09-2006, 10:51 PM Thanks again for a fab walk ! Great to meet everyone. Very interesting walk, especially the new use for Horse muck :gag: :P Wish I saw the dragonfly and kingfisher :( My pics are in the woodhouse link on www.rtapper.plus.com if u wanna have a look :) krisskross 11-09-2006, 08:21 AM It was nice meeting you all on Sunday, Looking forward to the next one. Kriss Strix 11-09-2006, 03:29 PM It was nice meeting you all on Sunday, Looking forward to the next one. Kriss *cough* photo's? *cough* taxman 11-09-2006, 03:36 PM *cough* photo's? *cough* I'd get that seen to if I were you, sounds nasty ;) Lotti 11-09-2006, 03:36 PM Haha! Takara's had no ill effects from the horse muck so I maintain my stance that it's not bad for her! A lovely walk thanks to the Strix's and I even got a lay in this morning the dogs didn't get up until 8!! (That's late for Miss Spotty) krisskross 11-09-2006, 10:15 PM here are the photos of the woodhouse walk http://www.picturetrail.com/dragonpond purdyamos 11-09-2006, 10:31 PM I was a little confused at first - I thought 'did they walk round a card shop?' Then I found them! Doesn't that electricity/phone substation thing look wonderful? So much character. Glad the weather was kind to you all again. I hope you can come to the cemetery walk next Sunday. krisskross 11-09-2006, 10:36 PM I love cemeteries but we are going away sunday, so bit sad we will miss that one, but perhaps next time.... P.s dont forget to post the pics.... Strix 11-09-2006, 11:03 PM Nice photo's Kris :) The nature reserve at woodhouse is reclaimed from a sewage treatment works, which is what the ponds and that building are ;) Since we've moved up here, some of the biggest blots on the landscape seem to be disappearing - we used to have a fantasic view of Orgreave Slag :gag:, but that's been dug away :) , the disused tip is currently being geotextiled and converted to a nature reserve, the playing fields and sports facilities are all being upgraded as part of the retirement village project, the station has been regenerated, the shops all seem to be thriving better..... I'm glad we moved here :) I'm sure we can plot a route round beighton in the near future ;) Grissom 11-09-2006, 11:26 PM Hey those dragonflies are rather good  Will get a few snaps of the cemetery at the weekend. Just need to remember to pack my camera and a wooden stake for the zombies :) purdyamos 12-09-2006, 03:33 PM Just need to remember to pack my camera and a wooden stake for the zombies :) Don't worry. They like to have a nap on Sunday afternoon. :) |
