Well as it seems the bus strike is going ahead I am going to have to find an alternative travel option.

I live in Stannington and have to get to London Road for work.

I don't mind walking into hillsborough to catch the tram. Does anyone know how much a weekly tram pass will be for someone with a student card?

I guess I'll have to walk from the hole in the road, to london road.

If anyone knows an alternative to this, ie. catching terrier buses please let me know! otherwise my little legs are in for a treat this week! :D

I think there about £8 if your a student, but don't hold me to it cos i'm not sure!

I pay £8 for a bus pass so if the tram pass is the same price then I'll be very happy!

I looked at the passes that allow you to use any bus and tram but they are £15!! Far too much for me.

As far as I know the tram don't do student (NUS/Uni) concessionary passes. If you have one of those 16-18 student cards it's 40p any trip, but a normal Megarider 7 day ticket for anyone it's £7.50

i'd get the blue tram from malin bridge and get off at granville road. you only have to walk up the ring road then past dc cook and st mary's. i'm guessing the green buses and roads will be quite full, so probably the best option.

You can get a Yorkshire Terrier service from Hillsborough into town, either 52,74, 74A, alternatively the tram.

From town to London Road Yorkshire Terrier routes 25, 72, 72A, 72B go that way, as does TM Travel 293 and First Staffordshire X18.

Also Stagecoach route 43/44 goes down Bramall Lane onto Chesterfield Road if that is any use.

I think you can get a special Travelcard which is valid on both Yorkshire Terrier buses and Stagecoach trams.

There is also a special Megarider valid on Stagecoach buses as well as trams.

Try the Stagecoach website: http://www.stagecoachbus.com/south_yorkshire/index_html/index_html

Thanks for the help.

i think I'm going to go with the tram and my legs! I daren't risk waiting for a yorkshire terrier because by the time I've waited I could have probably walked from town to London Road.

Can the 7 day tram pass be bought on the tram or will I have to go to the interchange at hillsborough to get it?

Weekly tram passes can be purchased from the conductor on board.

Yorkshire Terriers from town to London Road run about every 10 mins, and as you are commuting in the opposite direction to everyone else shouldn't be too busy.

Timetable can be found at www.sypte.co.uk

Thanks Andy.

I think I'll walk into hillsborough tomorrow and go into the transport shop at the interchange and see if they know how much it will be for a pass I can use on the YT buses and the tram.

I only budget £8 per week for travel! :D

I support the drivers though. A bit of strike action shakes these capitalist greedy barsteward companies up!
